WELP.
Guess who should be (and is not) writing? THIS DUDE RIGHT HERE. Had the day off from work, which I spent doing important stuff like getting a new library card (as the lamination on the old one had worn out) and seeing Captain Marvel (which is good, but not great. Which is no fault of the movie's, but rather an indication of Marvel consistently knocking the ball out of the park with stuff like Black Panther, but I digress).
What I didn't do much of, however, was write. Because I am a terrible slacker, yes.
Ostensibly, I keep telling myself I'm going to write something original ish ... and I'm chipping away at that! Slowly. On yet another draft. Though I looked at some stuff and figured I'd delete a good 900 words or so of it, and ... yeah. Hmf. I'll figure it out, eventually.
Though in the meanwhile, perhaps in some sort of "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" situation, I find myself thinking about writing fanfic again. Ponyfic, even.
Like ... I've got an idea for a silly (read: dumb as hell) fic about Pinkie Pie, based entirely on one single, slightly bawdy joke.
OR.
I have an even dumber idea for something weird and metatextual that people will either love or hate me for. Though, now that I think of it, the whole "Beanis" universe is a ... thing, and the more I dwell on such matters the more I realize I should top off my wineglass and just write the stupid metatext already. Not entirely out of spite, but slightly. The best fanfic is like that.
OR.
I could write something slightly less metatextual. And as a crossover! Between Equestria Girls and something none of you (except for Present Perfect) likely know anything about! But ... that requires research. Hmmm.
OR.
I went ahead and watched the S9 trailer, and I am indeed hyped. Curious to see how this wild rollercoaster of a show is going to end (especially considering the last few seasons have been pretty solid). The thing is, I've gotta wait 'til S9 actually premieres so I know just what the heck happens ... and so therefore in turn I can hack out the same events from the perspective of one Flash Sentry (HERO OF EQUESTRIA). He'll tell you what actually happened. Honest.
So yeah. Just kicking some ideas around. Might even go write something stupid and spiteful now. It'll be fun!
Pinkie sings out all 21 verses ofThe Ball of Kirriemuirat the Grand Galloping Gala (much to Luna's delight)?Maybe too bawdy... Never mind. I second 5027130 's comment below about Fluttershy and the Hedgehog Song
I really should look into Sentinels of the Multiverse...
Pinkie teaches The Hedgehog Song to Fluttershy, who doesn't get it and goes around singing it to herself?

It's neat!
The game's fun in and of itself, but the real kicker is the whole metatextual bit where each deck/character is part of an ongoing comics universe (that technically doesn't exist). And there's even a podcast about it! In case, y'know, you had a spare 100 hours or so to get caught up.
I wouldn't call the last few seasons solid, but hopefully the series will end on a high note.

Fair. I’ve been cherry picking eps on Netflix, skipping most of the stuff about the school. I’ve enjoyed the episodes that focus on Twilight & co. Plus, it’s kinda ballsy that we’ve got eps with stuff like “how to cope when your parents are separated” and “what to do when your biological dad is a deadbeat con man.”

I've actually enjoyed the Starlight episodes the most. My theory is that she's an easier character for the new writers to write for because she doesn't have as much continuity to keep track of. Though to be fair, the one where Spike got his wings is right up there with the CMC earning their marks. Still, there are a lot of episodes in S8 that I have no desire to rewatch.
