More test renders! · 12:28am Mar 9th, 2019

Made this scene using a combination of self-made and premade models. Texturing was done almost entirely by myself.

Also, it took 18 hours to render on the hardware I have. So yeah.

I realized after it finished rendering that the wall was too thin, making the windows look a bit... weird.

Yeah. I'm working on improving things still. Thickening the interior walls actually helped quite a bit in improving the look of the windows. :raritywink:

They do actually have locking handles on them. It's just untextured, so it blends in quite well with the surrounding walls.

Or add a texture to them. Maybe make them shiny.

Either way, it'd be another 18 hours of leaving my computer on rendering nonstop.

The windows themselves?

I could maybe turn up the reflectivity.

I'll try, but once again, I'm just doing this as practice, and each image takes a good portion of the day for the computer to render. 4096 samples for me is able to tone down the amount of noise in the image to an acceptable level, and even at only 1080p, that took about four hours on the best computers my school has.

Yeah. The best I can get on a quick rendering pass are these:

i.ibb.co/N2CDfTd/Screenshot-111.png Unrendered, materials only.
i.ibb.co/fDSqPLQ/Screenshot-112.png From a different angle to show how I cheat the rendering time by cutting down on the number of polygons to render
i.ibb.co/0c8ZNnB/8.jpg Bathroom break render.

It may not look like much, but the white noise in the image takes hours to get rid of, even with a powerful computer.

Making grass clumps right now. I can render them low-poly and they'll still look good. I'll post some renders shortly.

8 polygons total. Extreme low-poly grass, courtesy of texture mapping and shader trickery.

Though, the extreme low-poly grass does look a bit funky on the left. I was playing with the camera's depth of field settings for a nice soft blur for the closeup and I might've screwed something up.

EDIT: apparently Fimfiction decided to not load the image properly. Have a link instead.

idk. Maybe? I really don't have the time to, and my free time today was just eaten up by the time I spent working in Blender.
