The Bronycon Bookstore Question · 1:34am Feb 27th, 2019

The Bronycon Bookstore, for those of you unawares, is a project by Aquaman to buy a vendor booth at the last Bronycon so fandom writers can print and sell their work. It is also something I really, really, would really like to participate in. In fact, I've kicked around the idea for years of printing a collection of my stories to hand out as a gift at cons if nothing else.

There are, unfortunately, a few problems with this:

1) I will almost certainly lack the capital to do a print run of a short story collection, let alone commission art or editors to help.
2) There is a decent chance many of my fans who might be interested can't go to Bronycon.
3) I'm uncertain if there is any real interest among my fans for this as a product, rendering the exercise both costly and masturbatory.

Looking at all that, I think I came up with a solution. Namely; crowdfunding.

The idea would be to run an Indiegogo and use the profits from the crowdfunding to commission artists and provide capital for a printing for the con. It would also provide non-congoers with a place to purchase the book. There would be stretch goals to cover things like extra art, and do a printing run for the Bronycon Bookstore, not to mention any extra would go a long ways to actually getting me to Bronycon.

But, that still leaves problem 3: do you all really want this?

So, to answer that question out of the gate, I made a survey to guage interest. So, please, if you have any interest in this project, take the survey. Your responses will help inform the price and design of the final product. Also, if you know anyone who is a fan of my work but doesn't follow me, *please*, pass this post their way. I can only really justify diving in on this project if there's interest in it.

So, please, like I said, if a physical copy of my stuff is something you'd be interested in, give me feedback on this idea.
