I'm done with fanfiction.
I thought that by taking money for writing, I could force myself to get involved in this fandom again, but it isn't the same as it used to be.
I haven't watched the show in years and don't care for the direction it went in even as early as back in 2013, but I always tried to treat my stories as a different entity. I'm getting older and I realize that this just isn't important to me anymore. It would be nice to say that I plan to finish ZatAoS someday, but I would be lying to you if I said that was going to happen. I haven't decided whether or not I'll delete my work from this site, but I won't do so without advance warning.

EDIT: Since some have asked, here's the layout of what would have been the rest of the story.
Path 4: Spike wrestles with feelings of inadequacy and repressed jealousy, Dash tries to come to terms with her past and learn from her family's mistakes. They struggle with communicating their feelings to each other and come to realize that sex only goes so far in a relationship, romantic or otherwise. Road trip story with free use sex and Wonderbolt involvement, with an appearance from Windy Whistles.
Path 5: Rarity is walking on eggshells after winning the wager; her friends trust her the least and prioritize Spike's happiness over her own, and are unintentionally critical of her. Spike tries to remain optimistic for his partner's sake, but Rarity's lifestyle reminds him of his old life in Canterlot, and highlights the differences between the two and where they are in their stages of life. Spike gets to know Rarity's family and builds a strong rapport with her father, who helps him to be more confident and treasure the imperfections of loved ones. (Mostly) wholesome slow burn story with femdom elements.
Path 6: Twilight comes to terms with the fact that she and Spike are growing apart, and struggles to distinguish whether the two are actually compatible or if she's simply reluctant to let him go. Twilight's newfound lack of assertiveness bothers Spike, and the two are distinctly uncomfortable seeing each other as equals/ Spike begins to spend more time with his male peers, away from Twilight and her friend group. This persists until early summer of the next year, where the opening of the Summer Sun Celebration features a beautillion, and Spike's new romantic options expand far beyond Twilight and her friends. Childhood friend-based story, with elements of power play. Cadence and Shining Armor serve as deuteragonists.
Sounds like you put a lot of thought into making those future chapters a rich exploration of the characters and their flaws, and not just an excuse for sex. That's something sorely missing in general on this website (and any fandom, I would wage), and I know I'm just one of the many who will be sad to see you go.

I can only agree with everyone else. Zen and the art of suasion stood out as well written and with a psychological depth miles meyond normal clopfics. I thank you for writing it, but I am very sad to see you go. Well, many happy returns!
I've read a lot of stories on this site and for a long time I would avoid the "human" fics like the plague but ZATAOS changed that and made me give other stories in the category a chance. It was a great story with depth that I and many appreciated and though I am saddened at its cancellation I wish you the very best in your future endeavors in this world. God Bless man.

The story I remember of yours was the one you described as your least-favourite, but to me it was stunningly good. I had vague thoughts of commissioning a sequel to it sometime, but I get that being paid to do it doesn't solve the problem if you're not feeling it and stuff.
Please don't delete your work; after you've put so long into it I think that would be a real waste. And I like rereading it from time to time.
