Find out who is or may have some say in the writing of the series and tell them.
Don't throw your arms in the air, screaming and jumping and yelling. Just make a polite suggestion. It can go a long way.
Criticism in this scenario only works if it's sensibly-delivered and well-aimed.
I mean, people are losing their minds over Applejack. To that I say, maybe she'll become more like the original character we've grown to love. Maybe she'll find the hat later on.
I mean, regardless, she's certainly come a long way since the 'dumb glutton' of previous generations.
Or maybe it'll be a new character that better fills that role. More depth will be given to the Earth Ponies apparently which I'm really looking forward to.
Also, for those lamenting the end of the background ponies; keep in mind that various characters such as Cheerilee, Sparkler, Fleur, Moondancer and the CMC (Their names at least) are taken from previous generations so it's unlikely we've seen the end of them. Considering A Slice Of Life got such great reviews, it seems the next writers may at least consider taking them on for another generation.
Regardless, losing your mind over something you know very little about is never good practice.
Always remember, we've never technically been the target audience. Go for something that will satisfy family audiences. Disney's made great stuff from that kind of thing that still holds up today.
In the meantime, Fimfiction, Equestria Daily and Derpibooru will still be here after 2020 for all fans of G4. So let's not worry. It's sad that it's ending, certainly, but it could have been a lot worse. It could have ended prematurely or dragged out to breaking point.
We've all seen what happens to those kinds of cartoons!
So let's be happy that it came this far, inspired a generation and has opened the doors to so many opportunities. And above all, let's not be afraid of still being fans. There are still Teen Titans fans, still Avatar: The Last Airbender fans, still Lord of the Rings fans, those shows don't just go away.
The only real guarantor of a long-lasting, wide-spreading and inspiring work of media is quality work well-made which, it seems, MLP is pulling off better than ever.
I'm at least glad that Season 9 will begin after I've graduated so I might be able to get my stories finished before the end. Here's hoping. And even then, I've got ideas for a historical fic based on the 'Civil War' between Celestia and Luna so G5 won't really matter in the canon sense.
Regardless, I'm hoping it'll go well but if not, we've still got a lot of magic left in the world.

Well, I know Fimfiction's still going on. I asked the Discord group. No plans to close it down yet. Equestria Daily says she's still going on and Derpibooru is taking all generations so fear not.

Let's hope it stays that way, I really don't want to lose contact with you. Also, depending on how your stories progress, I may have more information to plan out more the future stories I have in mind, hopefully, I get them all within the year. Hadn't it been for the proofreader issues, I had been more further by now with the stories by now.
