Daring Do and the Red Shoe Diary

For years, since nearly the start of the series' rise to international fame, the rumors have persisted: Was there an adult-oriented Daring Do story? Has our intrepid explorer gone down paths far more sordid and saucy than her audience could have imagined?

New Red Shoes Chapter is Live!

After far too long of a hiatus, Red Shoes is officially back with a new chapter!

This time, we'll be hearing from the co-owner of Sugarcube Corner, who has a saucy but sympathetic tale to tell.

I hope you enjoy, and let me know in the comments. Cheers, all!

    Red Shoe Diaries: The Return

    *blows the dust off*

Yikes. I let this sit for way, WAY too long. As I'm typing this I'm realizing it's been 4 years, since this story last updated. That's horrendous, and also entirely my fault. True, lots of life has happened to me, and then there's the world going mad besides. But still, I should NOT have let this story lapse like this. For that, readers, you have my apologies.

Been with family most of the day, but wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

This has admittedly been a crappy year for me, but I AM very thankful for all of you. Your support means the world, and I'm glad y'all are here.

In the comments, let me know what your fave Turkey Day desserts are!

On Bittersweet Endings (and accountability) · 7:40am Feb 19th, 2019

The end may be neigh, but that doesn't mean I (or any of us) have to go quietly into that digital night. (cont after the break)

As I'm sure you've heard by now, Hasbro made it official a few days ago: Season 9 will be the last ride for this 4th generation of MLP. :raritydespair:

Does this sadden me? Eeyup
Will I cry manly tears during the last episodes? Also eeyup
Is this the death of FimFic, EQD, and all things equine? Nnope

I say that for a few reasons:
1. Hasbro - along with multiple show staffers - have pressed the point that there's more to come from Equestria in the future. A new movie in 2021, more EQG content in the works, (yet unnamed) plans for other G4 media, and of course G5 waiting in the wings.

2. Syndication. At 200+ episodes, plus holiday specials and other shorts, there's more than enough for DiscFamily/Hasbro to send G4 to syndication at some point. At one episode a week, that's 4+ years of re-runs ready to go.

3. Fandoms have a way of sticking around at one level or another. Remember, Star Trek TOS only ran for 3 seasons and had a smallish cult following when it was cancelled. Look at it now. Will G4 get that big over time? Probably not. But we'll be far from the graveyard of history too.

4. #3 is fueled a lot by all of us. There's still stories for us all to tell, or twist, or have fun with. Cons or not, there's music, art, and craft to make, fics to write, etc etc.

5. Remember the whole point of the show - the magic of friendship. If we do nothing else after all of this, if we maintain the friendships that we found along the way, Twilight and her friends will live forever in all of us. Seriously.

All that said, let's gear up for S9 and make sure to send off the show with a bang. And PLEASE take a moment to reach out to the show staff, VAs, etc. on social media and thank them for their hard work. They've more than earned the praise. :)
***************************************
As for me, hearing that the end of G4 is coming really lit a fire under my rump to get writing. I have waaayyyyy too many items in my Drafts folder waiting to be finished. I saw a blog from Winston today on a much the same thing, and it made me realize that I need some accountability too.

SO, in the next 1-2 days, I'll rough out a plan of attack for my unfinished stuff and post it here for all to see. I'll also set rough timelines for completion of these items - at least finished drafts ready for edits/polish anyway. What I hope all of you can do is help me to hold myself accountable. PM me, pester me, whatever. But don't let me slack off like I have been.

That's all for now, but I'll be back with that timeline soon.

Cheers!
GMP

Here here!

I'm far from done with writing mlp fan fiction. :ajsmug:

I totally agree with you, too bad I can't give this a thumbs up. :pinkiehappy:

And PLEASE take a moment to reach out to the show staff, VAs, etc. on social media and thank them for their hard work.

A great idea! EqD is looking for everyone's help on that, in fact, right this moment:

If you want pre-reading for drafts of stuff you're working on finishing, hit me up.

Also, you think you'll be attending/staffing for EFNW this year? I think writing track staff is still kinda thin... maybe could use a few more hooves, though Xepher would know more for sure about that than me.

Amen, dude. I've still got at least one big story I want to finish, and one small one waiting in the wings. I have a huge 'Idea Dumps' folder, but I dunno if any of those will see the light of day.

I have to wonder what kind of stories G5 will bring...

Hear hear! Three cheers for Pony!

I've got so much I want to finish. So very much.

Yeah, I haven't even started writing fiction yet technically. So, I can guarantee I'll be sticking around for that. On top of that, I have a 120 stories in my tacking that haven't been completed and at least 10 or so of those frequently updating. So I'm 'stuck' there as well.

Honestly, I've been asking myself for a while what I'd do if the show was canceled. Same answer; pretty much nothing. I'll like the show as it was, maybe even rewatch it every once and a while, and just continue to enjoy fan content here on fimfic. (What I do currently.)

Let's not forget that the half-season of season 3 was that length because Hasbro's original plan for G4 of MLP was to release exactly 69 episodes, which is the bare minimum length for the show to be syndicated. The fandom being what it is was pretty much the sole reason for seasons 4-9, EqG, and the 1 (or 2) movies we've gotten.

I guess that's basically just me trying to mitigate the sadness of the show ending with how we've gotten more than triple the content we were supposed to.

I always look forward to seeing your writing, Moff. If you need a pre-reader or anything, you know I'm ready to help!

Accordant with you - its sad, but this not end for ponies, and of course for fandom. Sometimes I thinking about it, for me it is not a simple fancy, rather a big adventure, where I found more interesting people, have fun and find myself into creation. MLP open for all of us most amazing moments into around area and make our live on 20% cooler.
