    Post-Pony Thoughts and Saying Goodbye

Hello followers, it's been a while since I've logged onto this website. I honestly don't think much about FimFiction or ponies in general anymore. I'll start off this (final?) blog by saying that I'm no longer a 'brony'. Ponies don't interest me at all anymore.

But here I am, back to where I started.

If you're still following me and or my work, I'd like to let you know where I've been since my last update... I explained my situation quite thoroughly in my last blog, but I want to update you all on my absence.

Hello my readers and followers!

If you're still following me and or my work, I'd like to let you know where I've been since my last update... I explained my situation quite thoroughly in my last blog, but I want to update you all on my absence.

I'm still active in the Fo:E group (I look at the forum every day and moderate threads when necessary). However, I rarely participate in conversations, because honestly, Fo:E and MLP in general don't interest me as much as they used to six or eight years ago.

My writing has improved a lot since I wrote the last chapter of Rising Dawn - even more so since the time I first started writing the story, and honestly, I feel like my time is wasted writing fan fiction. Although I enjoyed writing Rising Dawn, the setting and universe could never belong to me. That sort of detachment has always sort of... haunted me, and demotivated me from investing more time into the story.

I remember all the frustrations trying to mesh Rising Dawn into Kkat's Fallout: Equestria. But now... now I don't have that problem.

For the last year and a half, I've been focusing a lot of my creative energy on planning and writing an original sci-fi that I've had in the works for many years now. It is a cosmic horror-thriller with some elements of military sci-fi, and I've written a large chunk of the first chapter - and I gotta say, I'm really proud of what I've got down on paper so far.

Now that I have a story and setting I can call my own, I feel like I'm at home and not co-inhabiting someone else's apartment. This is why I haven't been writing Rising Dawn. I finally have a story that is 100% mine, and I am immersed in it.

I can't give you guys the title or anything more specific than that because I don't want to be associated with Interloper in real life. In fact, I don't want to be associated with this fandom in real life in general.

This means that I won't be sharing specific details on my original sci-fi, or posting it anywhere on the internet for the public to read (due to my fear of being plagiarized). So if you are interested in reading more of my work... I'm afraid you're stuck with what I've got on FimFiction, or on any site that I've posted on as Interloper.

Now, this doesn't mean I will be deleting my FimFiction/DeviantArt profiles and works. I just won't be posting any of my original stuff on them.

That said, (and I've said this before) I haven't given up on Rising Dawn. It was the first successful, cohesive, long-form story I've ever written and I want to keep writing it. It's just that right now, I'd like to focus on my original work (my pride and joy) rather than my humble fan fiction. I hope you all understand.

I've officially put Rising Dawn on hiatus for the near future. Once I start writing it again, I'll post a blog here and let you all know.

If you are an editor or pre-reader for Rising Dawn (you know who you are) then don't give up on me yet. One day (and I can't say for sure when) I will ask you once again to edit Rising Dawn :raritywink:

On a less sad/disappointing note, some old friends of mine commissioned me art for Rising Dawn last year:

Here's Red and Cane from my old pal HarmonyHarp, commissioned from Eternanyx!

And here's a scene from the Battle of Poneva (from Chapter 12) from my main man, Dannykat, commissioned from Elmutanto!

Thank you both! Despite my waning interest in Fo:E and MLP, it's things like this that keep the dream (to finish Rising Dawn) alive.

Until next time,

Interloper
