Long description:
It had been hard enough, being one of the first. With the walls dropped, leaving her nation, her herd, traveling to Japan and trying to exist among so many strangers... every day had been a challenge. But she'd tried. Day by day, hoofstep by hoofstep, she'd felt she was finding her place in the human world.
But now there are no humans. No other demis. Nothing to anchor her. She exists among tiny horses and the scent of their fear, or at least what little of it drifts into her cell.
For nopony can look at a centaur and see anything but a monster.
Short description: 'Yesterday, she was a sweet, somewhat old-fashioned exchange student trying to find her place in a strange culture. Today, Centorea Shianus is a new world's greatest terror.'
Blouse-ripping will be kept to a minimum. However, in the name of established tradition, there will be at least one 'Yearrggh...'

At the start of that description I thought, "oh, Estee is doing a pony on earth story, sweet". But then I read the rest and it got so much better. This is going to be a disaster! A wonderful, cringy, indescribable disaster!

Though I do wanna point out that (at least according to the comic) Celestia had a decent relationship with the centaurs as a whole, it was Tirek in particular who was evil (along with the centaur wizard who taught him the whole magic drain thing I guess).

Hmm. Okay. I mean, you're putting her into your 'verse, your version of Equestria. Whatever you feel is consistent with your characters' development works for me.
From what you've described, I do think she'd do relatively okay if put into canon Equestria. At the time of the linked blog entry, the most recently aired episode was "To Change a Changeling", in which the only changeling in the hive who hadn't changed was accepted (and then changed anyway). And now there's a school that's accepted a changeling, a yak -- themselves no strangers to getting offended too easily -- and a dragon. (As well as a griffon and a hippogriff, but that's almost not the point.) I think canon Equestrians might be curious, and think Pinkie would want to throw her a welcoming party... meaning she'd have to deal with being the centaur of attention regardless, however she deals with that.
But yeah, I see greater difficulties in store here.

It won't be a 'verse story, although some details will be consistent. However, part of the problem is going to be that on the timeline, she appears *very* close to the Tirek fight. So centaur=apocalypse will be very much on everypony's mind, because it's too fresh.
And there's also a certain problem with her possessions...
