i'm honestly not surprised it's ending. i knew it had to happen eventually. if they didn't, this would've turned into antoher Spongebob or Simpsons- go on WAAAAAAAAAY past its prime and become a shadow / shell of its former self.
and if this is the final season, maybe they can pull out some crazy stuff, like make some shipping couples canon.
Would never trade this experience for anything else

Picture the scene; last episode. Rarity and Spike finally have a tender shipping moment. Out of nowhere, Applejack loudly announces that she's lesbian, and always has been, and loves Fluttershy. Silverstream and Gallus turn up with an egg, and proclaim it's theirs. The wedding's next month. Pinkie Pie's confirmed pansexual. Lyra and Bon Bon spend the last few moments of screen time with their tongues DEEP in each other's mouths. The rest of the cast just frickin' watch.

Gen 4 may be ending, but there's always Gen 5 to look forward to... a cycle has no end nor beginning... so rather than mope that Gen 4 is over, rejoice that it happened and let us look forward to Gen 5
I am glad that the season is finally ending, it has been an utter shit show for the past 4 seasons. I can only pray and hope that Gen 5 doesn't end up like Gen 4 from Season 5 - 8.

My concern is that with the news of the movie being CG and DHX having nothing to do with Gen 5 , I have little hope for a Gen 5 that isn't Hasbroed to death. We'll see.
We've also got a new MLP movie in 2021.
Might be the introduction to Gen 5 since it's apparently CGI
Also, Tempest appeared in the main series IDW comics where she reunited with one of her childhood friends, and the Nightmare Knights series, which is a lot of fun
I literally just watched the movie last week and this no more Tempest thing is slightly distressing.
Well, we can only hope that the next series is set in the same universe, so we can continue to build on the Lore and maybe have guest appearance from old favorites. One can only hope...

Well, I guess as they used to say everything good need to end once. I remember when the first news about the My little pony Friendship is Magic came to the MLP Arena forum after the terrible G3.5 episodes. I'm pretty sure that FIM burnt a deep memory in the fandom and the history of MLP so the memories, the fanarts and the fanfictions will remain with us and hopefully there will be a crossover with the next generation MLP too.
To be honest, I'm a bit jealous for the huge fandom the FIM could creat even bigger fandom than the earlier generations but I guess this is the evolution of the show even if many bronies ignores the pevious generations.
Well, I guessed that the show is coming to the end when Hasbro announced the Movie so somehow I counted for it to happen.
Some of my disappoints of the show:
-The young six came too late even if this show is about ponies I still found it to be refreshing to have other creatures in the focus.
-Babs Seed, Moon Dancer and the Canterlot five. I wish their story would more than just one episode even if they are just background ponies.

To be honest, I had a feeling this was coming. And considering how terrible the writing was throughout Season 8, this isn't much of a shock to me. Of course, the G4 generation had its best moments, but there have been a lot of bad ones too.
