One Story Overshadowed By The Rest · 12:20am Feb 13th, 2019
I couldn't help but notice that, while my friend and I have been pouring our hearts into a story that emphasizes adventure, drama, and a bit of comedy, it isn't doing as well as, say, the one story where Rainbow Dash hypnotizes two mares to getting their butts stung by wasps. It makes me think, should I focus more on my kinkier stories or focus more on the serious story and be a better writer there.
I think one of the reasons your bee fics are more popular is because of how unique they are. It introduced a bunch of people to a pretty niche fetish they probably never would've come across otherwise and you did it with good writing (something a lot of obscure fetish fics lack). On the other hand, if you're writing as a hobby then it should be enjoyable. If you like writing GoC more than the bee fics then you should do what makes you happy.

Don't get me wrong, I like both. At one point, I want to continue The Sting of the Love Bee. And, hey, if people love how unique it is, that's great! It makes me feel a bit more validated as a person because people think a kink I have is fun! However, I just hope that the more serious writing I do isn't overshadowed by fetishy, light-hearted stuff, too.
