Wanted to show a little bit of what I'm doing in regards to my upcoming stories. I'm too cheap for Photoshop, so here I am using Paint Tool Sai. Still a lot of work to do, but it's a start. This'll be for the Everfree concept in my last post, and I'll put in the short and long descriptions below.
Let me know what you think!
Rampant Growth
Short:
The Everfree Forest has experienced a great many things over its lifetime. Now, it experiences something it's never quite had before: hooves.Long:
The Battle of the Two Sisters brought more than just a change in leadership. With the weakening of Harmony, the ponies found themselves beset by a new problem. The forest around the ponies' capital began to grow at an unprecedented rate, and beneath the soil, strange and unpredictable forces gave rise to savage, carnivorous plants that devoured anything within reach. With nourishment rich and plentiful, even following the costly battle between the alicorns of the sun and moon, their thorny vines began to infest the city where the last battle was fought, content only to grow and expand. Some claimed that the forest was no longer welcome to ponies anymore. That the spirit of the forest was now evicting its trespassers. The remaining princess was already making plans to relocate the center of pony civilization.
Others refused to be cowed. One expedition, headed by a powerful, headstrong sorceress, sought to reach the deepest parts of the rapidly growing forest, intent on stopping the rampant growth of thorns and whip vines from encroaching on their land.
Neither the vines nor the ponies quite expected the results of their confrontation.
This sounds like a fun story. I look forward to seeing it.

Buckled down today and got through it! I still need to work on my other story, of course, but this story is something that I'm pretty interested in pursuing, and I'm hoping that it takes off when I throw it out. We'll see when we get there though, but here's hoping!
5012212 The image looks great.
By the way, if your other story (In Sheep's Clothing) qualifies as a monster mare story, feel free to add it to one of the folders in the library section of the group (I haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I think it would probably qualify going off of the image and the title).

Only if changelings count as monster mares.
I thought about it, but that particular story didn't seem to check off enough boxes in my mind to really be a story about a monster mare.
Cool! Can't wait for this story to get started. Looking forward to it
I really want to read this story when you publish it!
Huh. Interesting story idea. I'll add it to my list when it's available.
What is the significance of the art program used, though? There's GIMP, Krita, Inkscape, and Blender, and 42 billion others...
Why are certain ones better/more useful/preferred?

Look forward to seeing you when it's out. :P
But yeah, there are a lot of art programs out there. A lot of them do certain things much better than others, which is why some are more recommended, of course. The art program I used is free and relatively simple to pick up. Photoshop is great, has a lot of features, and I have no doubt that I could create stuff that looks much better with it, but I just can't be bothered to work through the intricacies.
