FUCK THIS BATTLE. JUST FUCK THIS BATTLE RIGHT UP THE ASS.
Didn't clock a lot of Smash time today because today was mostly a lazy do-nothing day. Like, all the do nothings. Like, spent most of the day asleep or watching TV nothing.
Played a little more of World of Light and unlocked two fighters (out of five challenged): Roy and Pac-Man. I need to take a minute to complain about what a pain in the ass it is trying to unlock Ridley.
Because the problem isn't Ridley. The problem is the goddamned lava stage where you FIGHT Ridley. Every single time I've had Ridley pop up, the goddamned LAVA has KOed me. Just...I've SEEN the lava stage being complained about on YouTube?
And now I know why, and am right there with all my Smash brothers and sisters in HATING. THAT. STAGE.
What new lava stage? As far as I know, there are no new lava stages.

I did some checking and my bad on that; Norfair has been around for a while, but this is my first time to ever encounter it because this is the first Smash game I've gotten this invested in (I played Brawl, but not that much honestly). I saw it in a YT video criticizing the worst stages in Ultimate and assumed it was a new stage. That's on me.
Roll Caskett was totally on Nintendo, Megaman 64 on the Nintendo 64 was a port of Megaman Legends.

Understandable. Norfair isn't a stage most casual people play, and it's pretty much banned even in competitive. The general consensus I've found is "Fuck Norfair". And if they did play it in Ultimate, it would almost guaranteed be without hazards. That lava wave is a bitch.

I’ve 100% adventure mode. Geno wasn’t as bad as Pauline, imho.
If you're having trouble unlocking Ridley, I suggest that before the battle you equip a spirit that gives you immunity to the lava on the stage. Trust me, that will make the battle so much easier.
(Although, I'm not sure that applies to stage hazards as well... in which case, good luck man.)

Ultimate only has four new stages as far as I know: one based on Super Mario Odyssey, one based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, one based on Splatoon, and one based on Castlevania. All other stages have been on at least one other game in the series.
(Of course, this is not counting DLC. Since we know every new fighter will have a home stage we know there will be at least one new stage based on Persona 5.)

Hanenbow is still worse, though. I don't know why they chose to bring back that one, nobody liked it back in Brawl.
At least there are Battlefield and Omega variants this time around.
