What a great show · 6:39am Jan 27th, 2019

I don't need you to respect me
I respect me
I don't need you to love me
I love me
But I want you to know, you could know me
If you change your mind
Change your mind

I think it's worth anyone's time because of the many messages it carries. What is to mature, one's identity, our relationships with other and what does conflict comes down to. It also has many deconstructions to typical narratives. For example, the idea of a war between good and evil gets demolished with saying "there are no good wars", and acknowledging what really happens in such a confrontation.

It also is about peace and love, but more than talked about, both concepts are explored and discussed. It feels like what Nolan usually tries to do, when his characters talk about how emotions work, but here it works better on the grounds the characters do experience the emotions they talk about. When Garnet speaks of a relationship and an experience, you know she's talking about herself.

Overall, it's a great concept, with great characters and a great execution. Maybe it feels simplified, but that doesn't come out as lazy, but rather as making sure the message is understandable to the most people possible.
