The Force is the Force, of course, of course, and no one can horse with the Force of course--that is of course unless the horse is the Jedi Master, Ed ("Stay away from the Dark Side, Willlburrrr...")!

Monty Python's Life of Rocky Horror Superstar

feat. Joel Smallbone as Biggus Dickus

This looks like a nine-deck, four-funnel, single-hulled production colliding with an iceberg of bad decisions.

On the other hand, everybody onboard seems to be having fun with it. 'Tis the season!...

My Little Pony or Damon Runyon or Space Mutiny? · 12:44am Jan 25th, 2019

If you were writing a ponified Damon-Runyon-style gangster story and you needed a bunch of pony names for torpedoes and such-like muscle, you could get all you needed in a minute and fifteen seconds:

"Bold Bigflank!"
"Flint Ironstag!"
"Smash Lampjaw!"

It's actually scary, how well it works.

OMG I just recently watched that and loved it!!! :rainbowlaugh:

Gotta say... maybe I’m mellowing with age or something, but I find I have a lot more appreciation for Mike than I did back when I was younger. As fantastic as Joel was, sometimes Mike had these moments of absolutely sparkling brilliance.

I want to watch the whole thing again, now! :rainbowlaugh:

Big McLargehuge.

Who knew Bulk Biceps had so many cousins?

My all-time favorite story about the MST3K "Names From Space Mutiny" bit is when I was playing in a tabletop RPG a few years back. When the four players got together without the GM (who lived in another city) to do some character creation, one of us made an orc druid and rolled maximum Strength, then was having some trouble coming up with a name and just gave up and called him Blast.

"Blast Hardcheese!" I joked, then segued into a string of other Space Mutiny names to go with it — only to discover, to my delight, that nobody had a clue what I was referencing. So I halted character creation and pulled up that video.

The hilarity left such an impact that "Blast Hardcheese" actually became the character's name, and we sat down and riffed back and forth, making D&D-themed Space Mutiny names for over half an hour. All four of us wrote the best of them down onto scratch paper and quietly slipped them into our stacks of game material.

Our payload having been prepared, we start playing the intro session — in which the characters run into each other as prisoners in a slaver camp and start getting together to hatch an escape plot.

We all look at each other and start lowkey sliding our lists of names out into visibility as the time comes for introductions. "And I," Blast's player says, miming an arm flex to give us the cue, "am Blast Hardcheese."

"Buff Meatshield!" I deadpan.

"Swing Spellsword!" the player to my right chimes in.

"Flex Halberd!" the fourth player says.

And all four of us start machine-gun riffing around the table. "Bear Suplex!" "Swole Greenskin!" "Ding Levelgain!" etc.

The GM, who was not in on the plot, starts laughing his ass off. We somehow manage to more or less keep it together, go about four times around, then let the moment pass and pick up with the adventure.

Ten minutes pass. Something something quest hook NPC. Blast strides up. "And you have the axe of Blast Hardcheese!"

There is a quiet rustle of paper as the second lists get pulled out from under our character sheets.

"Orc Hardpec!"

"Huge Climbcheck!"

"Grunt Treefriend!" etc.

The GM's laughing so hard he's crying. We break up as the rest of us descend into laughter ourselves. Everyone finally manages to get themselves under control. We pick up with the adventure.

Something something jailbreak, confront the slavers, big epic moment, we square off against the evil guards.

"Your mistake," Blast's player says dramatically, "was opposing Blast Hardcheese."

There's a moment of pregnant silence.

Mostly because the third list has already been pulled out in anticipation.

"Leaf Sixpack!"

"Stab Swimtrunks!"

"Grease Barkskin!"

"Hold Person!"

Our GM starts laughing so hard he literally can't breathe. At least two of us end up on the floor. Game stops dead.

"Oh my GOD," he says five minutes later as we're finally struggling for composure, "how many of those do you have?!"

I give him a super innocent smile and nudge lists four and five back underneath my character sheet.

"Oh yeah," another player says. "We're TOTALLY done."

…And that's how Space Mutiny references were banned from our gaming table. :pinkiehappy:

OMsparkly-manedG!:rainbowlaugh::heart: I completely lost it just reading that! For some reason, Ding Levelgain damn near choked me!

It's a good thing I'm visiting my sister this weekend. She's the one who introduced me to MST3K back when reruns aired on the Sci-Fi Network; she'll love this.

I actually remembered like none of the original names, so I made all these up on the fly. But I've got the lists still in my gaming archives! Gonna have to find where I put the pictures of them. :D

5002471
Please post them when you do! :pinkiehappy:

For the love of all that's holy and pure, please make this into a post when you find the archive. I slid of my chair laughing.

(I may have acted out each scene, though. Because how could I not?)

Also I am making a character named 'Ding Levelgain' and nobody can stop me.

I'm a fan of these guys, but I'd never seen this until now. Hilarious!
