I originally wasn't planning to have Starlight almost crush Eric. But because of the scratched plot from chapter 3, I needed something like that to happen to Eric by this point. Since I thought that it could be the perfect way for Starlight to "meet" him, I put it in.
Other than adjusting the end of chapter 4 to set up Eric's near-crushing meeting with Starlight, nothing much changed during the editing of chapters 4 or 5: everything else that happened mostly stayed the same after editing. I did make an edit change to make Twilight be more indifferent to Eric asking to stay on her head at first in chapter 4, to help make it mean more when she later started liking him being there herself.
In fact, that whole thing about Eric liking to be on Twilight's head wasn't even going to become the part of their friendship, and later brother-sister friendship like it ended up being at first. it was originally going to just be a one-time thing, when Twilight was hiding him from Starlight. But as I was writing chapter 4, I thought Eric being on Twilight's head could be a cute part of their bond, so I decided to make it a thing they did. if I didn't, she'd probably had just carried him on her back.
