Too Young to be Old
So everybody gotta life
Time always flowing by
Working through all the pain and strife
Just to never say goodbye
Young kids playing in the sand
As their daddy is close at hand
But how did they make a stand
I'm still trying to understand
Young kids are told
To let the old be old
But always in a hurry
They don't even think to scurry
Till its all too late
All made by one mistake
The young debate
No more time for the milkshake
Young child coming so soon
Daddy isn't ready
Yet mommy holds the spoon
Too young to ever be this way
Yet now sleep is for yesterday
As a little one with a teddy
Sleeps never knowing of the pay
We were too young to hold through
Yet here we are with you
Mommy's Seventeen
Daddy that of nine
And what he could do just to turn back the time
We live with the choices we make
Now here I stand doing another take
Late into the night with the darkness by my side
My lover on the bed, baby inside
What do you do when life goes this way?
I stay and pay come whatever may
They deserve better that what I have
Nothing but a bed to halve
No money to buy her a fancy car
Not a dime could fix what is soon a lifetime of scars
All because we rushed in.
The young trying to be old again.
