Regularly Scheduled "I'm not dead yet" Announcement

Astute readers will note that there is no schedule, regular or otherwise.

My depression has been super duper extra bad for six to eight months. Or is it seven to nine months? That shows when it comes to updates. On the plus side, calling something as serious as debilitating depression "super duper" anything makes things feel a bit lighter.

So, let's take a moment to talk about some things.

I have a tendency to fixate on things even when my depression is mostly controlled, and it gets worse while my depression is out of control. While the worst of it has been the past 6-9 months, my depression has been worse than usual for the whole time I've been on Fimfiction. (It'll be two years of worse than usual in mid February.) I think that shows.

We have one fic that was never intended to be a fic (just a quickly scribbled thing in the comments), one thing that was more or less a knee jerk response to a thing where I didn't like the author's assumptions, my own attempt at a "redemption of Sunset Shimmer" story, five Anon-a-Miss stories, one Forgotten Friendship story (where Forgotten Friendship is basically the animated canon's shot at doing an Anon-a-Miss story), and one story that was supposed to be an entry in a shipping contest because I hoped the deadline would actually give me the drive needed to write something.

Short version: I have as many Anon-a-Miss stories as I do all other forms of story combined. (And one of those "other forms" is basically an Anon-a-Miss lite story.)

That's just the stuff that I've published. If I pull up Fragments from the Multiverse, which is where I keep my scraps, I see another four Anon-a-Miss continuities that I've written scenes for. Probably on some hard drive or other there are even more. A rut: I am stuck in it.

If you're reading this, you probably already knew that. You probably also know that that my depression has me really, really stalled out.

So let's do something a bit more interesting.

Here's one sentence summaries of various chapters to come.

A New Path Forward:

• Chapter 3: Sunset meets with Aria Blaze
• Chapter 4: Sunset and Vice Principal Luna spend an evening together
• Chapter 5: On the first day after winter break, things at CHS are hectic, acrimonious, confusing, and surprising.

Stumbling Toward Redemption:

• Chapter 2: Sunset resists being helped by Rainbow Dash; the human five meet to discuss Sunset
• Chapter 3: The Monday after the Fall Formal is the start of a new and different era at CHS

Just the Two of Me:

• Chapter 3 (Shimmer POV): Sunset shows 'Shimmer' her home
• Chapter 4 (Sunset POV): Sunset and 'Shimmer' spend a day at CHS
• Chapter 5 (Shimmer POV): Sunset shows 'Shimmer' the truth (the truth being: Equestria)

Anon-a-Missed:

• Chapter 1: Sunset learns what's happened from Principal Celestia

(This is one where I have a better grasp on later chapters than the ones that are next in line.)

Down The Memory Hole:

From the Ashes:

• Chapter 1: The Monday after the prologue, various people respond to Sunset not showing up at school
• Chapter 2: I'll have to consult notes to be sure, but I think it mostly involves Sunset in the hospital. This comment contains a preview of the chapter. It's a preview of the end of the chapter, so be warned.

Take A Look Around My World:
-- Definitely have to consult my notes (this changed several times) but something along the lines of:

• Chapter 1: Sunset, Vinyl, and Octavia arrive at the Castle of Friendship (immediately following the prologue)
• Chapter 2: Sunset, Vinyl, and Octavia take the friendship express
• Chapter 3: Sunset, Vinyl, and Octavia arrive in the Crystal Empire

Fractured Friendship:
-- I know what's coming in the near future, but I won't know how much time each thing takes up until I write it. As such I don't have the confidence to divide it into chapters yet.

That's not to say that I don't know what's coming. (Probably the thing that'll get me the most flack is something that's several chapters out and involves a character who only appeared in one panel of the comic.)

So, those are some of the things that are coming. I wish I could give some sort of timetable for when they're coming, but it's basically the case that depression is ruling my life right now, and that's not conducive to writing.

I'm glad you're still here, and I'm sorry depression is tyrannizing over your life. I don't know what else I can say, but - you're appreciated. Whenever I see a fic of yours, I know it'll sound real because it comes from someone who knows what they're writing about.
