School is important. We all know this, right? School opens up new possibilities, allows you to socialize, grants you knowledge. How could anything with all those qualities, in any way, be bad or useless?
Well, as you should know by now, anything that seems too good to be true probably is. Take the modern school system today. It doesn't matter if you get the right answers in public schools. You just have to show your work. What's 3 x 3? Well, write it all out correctly but still get 7, and you'll get an A. I s*** you not. Then again, you might already know this, and in many ways, that's old news.
How about this: You have study extensively in Chemistry and language to have the chance to go to a college that teaches neither of those things. Language, for the most part, I can understand. Due to the amount of people being capable of traveling, there are lots of people who speak different languages living in the same areas. If you can't speak someone's language and they can't speak yours, you're both screwed, and no one likes being screwed (don't take that out of context).
Has the school system always been this bad? No. It has not. The good ol' days were much different. They had three subjects you had to learn, readin', writin', and 'rithmatic. Those were, and should still be, the most important and basic needs, as far as knowledge goes, for an intellectual. That's not the best part though. No, no, my friend. There's something about those days that really made people smart: if you didn't want to go to school, you didn't have to. There was no need if you planned on just doing basic manual labor your whole life. Sure, you might need to know how to build a house, but it shouldn't take crap-load of scientists to figure out how to do that. And even then, that's where the intellectual, who wanted to go to school comes in.
Also, when you wanted to study something very specific, let's say... sculpting. You went to someone who does it themselves and ask for advice before trying it yourself over and over until you're good at it. Rather than having tp study everything, you would study the basics and only pursue the advanced ones you were after.
That's another reason people were smarter. You only went to school if you wanted an education, so everyone who went to school already had a desire to learn. Why would you want to become an intellectual anyway? Because certain jobs do require it. If you want to be a scientist, you study science, especially in the field you're most interested in. Yeah, there's rules and stuff, and requirements, but you knew that going in, and you accepted it because your desire to be the smart person overcame your reluctance at studying.
Unless, of course, you happen to be a particular purple pony we all know.
Anyways, I'm not saying that you should get out of school. What I'm saying is that the school system is flawed, and once those of you who want to be intellectuals get the chance, you should try to find a way to fix this problem. I know that I'm in no position to do any good than to provide you with what little information I have. Plus, I base all of my feelings, whether they be religious or otherwise, on logic. Contrary to belief, logic and religion can go hand in hand.
But that's a discussion for a different blog. For now, I wish you all a happy new year. Enjoy your 2019.
