2018 was a tough year, I think.
Hi friends!
I hope you're all doing well, and that you had wonderful holidays if you celebrate them, and if you don't, then I hope you had a good December.
Looking back at 2018, it was certainly a very tough year for me emotionally. A lot of things happened, from my depression spiking horrifically, my writing being a little all over the place, my surgery for kidney stones and just basically bad stuff all over. I think, looking back now, I'd call 2018 a mental health trial year, where destiny took all the things I tell others about mental health care and threw me in situations to see if I followed my own advice.
Ultimately, the year culminated with a pretty harsh blow in the form of me finding out a dear friend lost his struggle against depression.
But not everything was bad, and even the bad was not useless. Does that make sense?
There were a lot of good things that came out this year! Snakes and Ladders came out, which I think is one of my more important stories. A Thousand Words of Noise, which was a meaningful spiritual sequel to Choices We Make. A lot of good stories, and more than anything, the discovery that I LOVE FIRST-PERSON RARITY, YOU GUYS, which led to Crimson Lips being a thing that I love and am very proud of.
And, finally, TEK, probably one of the more important stories I'll ever write when it isn't dancing between my constant "I would die for TEK" and "I'm goddamn cancelling TEK tomorrow".
2018 was a slow, harsh, important year, and it's over now.
For 2019, I want something different.
I know I talk a lot about me leaving the fandom when TEK ends, and that isn't something that's changed. Not because I don't like being here, but because I feel it's what has to be done.
So, for this year, which may be my last, I've decided to be what I was when I first joined this website: myself.
Okay, that sounded really corny, but I mean it, though.
When I first came here, I came here to write silly sappy RariTwi stories because I loved writing, and somehow that got muddled and tainted and ripped in these past years.
So, I'm going to go back to that in spirit... mostly because I haven't written a purely fluffy RariTwi fic set in canon universe in so long.
Anyway, I'm excited to make this a good year. Make, being the key word. I'm not going to hope for it to be a good year, not gonna cross my arms and wait. This year, we're grabbing 2019 by the throat and TELLING IT IT'S GONNA BE A DAMN GOOD YEAR OR ELSE.
So, for now, what's in store with Mono? Well...
Well, before we get into that, I want to say thanks.
Thanks to my editors, who are angels; my server, who are demons angels too; and a HUGE GUSHING thanks to my patrons for keeping me fed and helping through my surgery expenses.
And, most of all, thanks to all of you who've stuck with me through thick and thin. Thank you for staying with me through my ups and downs, my mental/emotional health issues and through what's turned out to be a hard year.
I feel like now more than ever stuff like this gets pushed to the side. Oh, it's just a fanfiction; oh, it's just a fandom; oh, it's just a small thing in the scheme of life. And that may be true, but this small thing means a great deal to me, so thanks for joining me on this ride as I work towards having better content and stories. It's a long, sometimes slow path, but I want to keep climbing it with whoever wants to join me.
AND NOW, FOR WHAT'S COMING:
- Crimson! Crimson will continue, even though it's starting to walk the path towards its end, which hurts me a little. I honestly never expected Crimson to become such an important story for me, but it's become one of my favorite fics and the only one that I'm seriously considering making original fiction eventually.
- A few fluffy RariTwi fics are coming your way, including one called "Somebody To Hold On To" which will have pony!Rarity meeting EQG!Rarity which sounds like the best thing I'll ever write in my life, tbh.
- Also a RariDash fic for a contest, and a RariCord fic (as commissioned by Professor Plum, who is the only person allowed to commission me on account of him being pretty ok, I guess).
- Caelus is also due an update soon! Gonna try to make it to monthly updates.
- TEK!
TEK is also coming as always, despite a massive... confidence hit I got related to it that just really bummed me out. I think that because I know TEK is one of my most important stories with the most meaningful message, it's also the one I have most... confidence drops with?
I don't know.
Anyway, the point is, for those of you still there with me in TEK, my strongest writing is in the horizon, and I'm really excited to see what comes out of it.

Original fiction? I'd be interested, though if it isn't too much of an intrusive question, I wish to know if you're still planning on working on the gods story that was used for your class, or are you leaving it as is for now? I was really intrigued about that world and honestly I'd love to see your original work with that if you ever publish something with it.
It'll be sad to see such a talented writer go, but I wish you the best when you do. Also, on smaller news: I guess the third volume isn't coming (I remember you saying there would be three volumes to "The Enchanted" series)?

Oh no, TEK is the final part of the series! I did say that TEK would be divided into three parts (which may not be the case anymore), but TEK was always planned to include the ending of the series.

If it's not too intrusive a question, do you have plans after leaving the fandom? You seem set on leaving it after the year is out and seem to have some reasons. Love your work and wish to support whatever you pursue, but my curiosity burns.
Your talent for making me care for fictional horses is unparalleled. I haven't felt such emotional attachment into this fandom since I joined in early 2011 when everything was new.
I'll be sorry to see you go, but I'm grateful for your work and how it made me feel like brony again as I haven't watched or enjoyed the show for quite some time.
We survived through 2018, so let's make 2019 have to survive us!

I doooon't know about patreon. I have it currently set up to support my fanfiction endeavors, so I'd feel bad keeping it running if I don't continue writing fanfiction. Maybe I'll do an original content one? As for finding out about future projects, I'll let you all know where I'm moving to, and there's also the Enchanted Library Discord Server! You have access to it on account of being a patron, and that will probably be one of the primo spots to find out what I'm up to when the time comes.

I don't know anything about patreon, but I would expect that there's some way to kick people off—to "cancel their subscription to you", so to speak, hopefully without banning them or blocking them from coming back. If that's true, you could do this to everyone with a big announcement that you're getting off fanfiction, or getting of this specific fandom, or whatever you are planning on doing. Then … if they want … they could hop back on.
If you're actually reading this, I was sort of wondering something. A while ago I was reading a story called "The Weary Travelers of Caelum" and I think it was yours but now it's seemingly disappeared from fimfiction and you have no blog post I was able to spot about it. Can you confirm or deny that this was yours?
