I wish there was a way to automatically filter away any story featuring "Anon".
ANON IS NOT A CHARACTER! IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A SELF-INSERT TO BANG PONIES OR WHATEVER, THEN PUT IN THE MINIMAL EFFORT TO GIVE THEM A [BUY SOME APPLES] NAME!
So yeah. I'm feeling slightly peeved.
No kidding.
Oh my Celestia I couldn't agree more. Anything about Anon and Anon-A-Miss is an immediate downvote from me. Self-insert proudly! (tehee.. self-insert)
By this point Anon is basically their own character, the hapless cynical jerk/deserving victim of shenanigans. Still can't stand them.
How did this nonsense start anyway, writing something easy to find-and-replace with your own name?

/mlp/ and 4chan (and other chans) is the reason why. 'Anon' describes basically every purveyor of /mlp/ who write (or inspire) most of the "anon" fics.
I can live with all sort of 'bad habits', up to, and including, the typical black and red alicorn who happens to be related to Celestia and Luna, has a big scar over his eye, a broken horn, is a giant jerk and everyone loves him, and he keeps screwing main characters when he's not saving Equestria on saturdays. But 'anon' is too much.
Seriously. I've found interesting self-inserts, I've even found reasonable alicorns and Celestia's sons, adopted Luna's sons, Rainbow Dash's brothers... But I never found a Anon that kept me reading a fic.
Well, the good news is: now that there's a specific character tag, you can add "-#anon" to the end of searches and they'll vanish from the search results.
Filtering tags sitewide, alas, is not yet a thing.
