State of the Scribe: April 2024

You know what they say about the best laid plans? I'll be real brief with this update, for reasons that will be self-evident.

State of the Scribe: February 2024

Another month, albeit the shortest of the year. I still haven't had a chance to get into the process side of my writing and write that detailed plan for the year, been too busy writing a novel. Guess that's a good problem to have.

This is exactly the 71st month I've posted a patreon calendar. Almost but not quite six years of writing fanfic, sharing all these ideas with you that would otherwise stay trapped in my head. I couldn't begin this post, and the beginning of a new year without expressing my profound thanks to everyone who keeps supporting me. Your help, big or small, is the only reason I'm still able to write

New Story: The First Willowbrook Christmas!

Hey pones! A Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Last year I wrote a short story for the holiday, but the editing pushed it back for a little while. For those who enjoyed Sisters of Willowbrook, I have a story for you to check out! The final chapter will get posted tomorrow:

Hey pones, forgot about this again, but better late than never! Here's the repost of my Patreon monthly update, for those curious about what's going on this month.

Hey ponies, just another monthly status update! Not as much in terms of new stuff as we move into the near year, so I'll be a little less verbose.

So all the big news this month revolves around Sunset Shimmer, that little attention-seeking not-pone-no-more.

First thing's first, we're saying goodbye to an old favorite. The Sunset Campaign is wrapping up this month, with just three more chapters until its conclusion. Hard to imagine back in September that the story would be so long and end so quickly--but man does time fly. In a way it's like my farewell to MLA while I'm at it, since I don't know that I'll get to write another story in that universe. It was a nice sendoff to all my old MLA friends.

But where one Sunset Falls, another rises to take her place. We've got a new patron in the family, who snapped up the last monthly slot, and with it we can look forward to a new story about our favorite troublesome not-pone. This one will be far more "canon friendly," focusing on the Equestria Girls universe as it might've been and spending all its time there.

As if dealing with her upcoming graduation and college didn't seem hard enough, she's also got to reconcile a crush on her best friend, who's already dating someone else. Oh, and monsters out of Equestria's past are rising up against the human world, in a way that's much too coordinated to be simple coincidence. If we're very lucky, the story might even have a name by next month!

Hard to say what things will look like in a year's time, assuming I haven't finished with every story in the queue before next year. But thanks for being with me in 2018, everyone who sponsored me. This was a great year--so many awesome stories got written thanks to you.

First, there were the ones directly supported by my Patrons-- Evoli Victorious, Unwilling Recruit, Sunset Campaign, Meliora, Memento Mori, Last Migration, Evening Star Also Rises, and of course Message in a Bottle. But there were also other stories that you made possible, because thanks to the sponsorship I get on this platform I'm able to use my free time to write instead of some boring college job mopping floors or whatnot. Shorts like Little Problems and I Don't Want to go Home, and hugely ambitious way-over-my-head insanity like Voyage of the Equinox.

Sigh... someday I’ll actually catch up on Sunset Campaign. Somehow these stories always seem to start at the busiest times.

So basically you've made Monday my favorite day of the week. I am not sure how to feel about that.

Holy carpet! I didn't realize how *much* you write.

Equinox isn't scheduled. I just update it ASAP once it reaches the confidence level.
