Happy New Year to all. · 6:37pm Jan 1st, 2019
Between work, family, the holidays, taking a class for my job, and trying to study for a test that I need to pass in order to keep my job, work on Change the Heart has unfortunately been left alone.
That being said, I'm hoping (between studying and work) to have some time set aside to get the next chapter out this year. I'm not sure yet on when that might be, as I need to completely rewrite it, but I'm hoping to get it done before the end of Spring, and once that's done I'll be doing some revisions to the final chapter before going back and working on the remaining ones. I'm hoping to finally finish the book between now and the end of 2020 (rough estimate just because there's a lot coming up and I want to make sure this thing goes right). I may unfortunately have to shelve the ideas for a few other stories I had planned just because I've seen how long this one has taken and the others I'm planning (with one exception) are planned to be much longer than this one is and I'd like to not keep delaying progress or have repeats of how long a wait it's taken to have this come out.
However, you can look forward to at least one more story after I'm done with this one. I have key plot points down already for it, I just need to be able to flush out everything in between. The theme for that one is "a look through time" and as such, I've planned, chapter-wise at least, for it to be much shorter than Change the Heart, coming in at 13 chapters + prologue and epilogue. I liked the way certain manga will call chapters things other than chapters (the big example being the Yu-Gi-Oh! series calling them "turns" instead) and wanted to do something similar with the upcoming book, so each chapter is a different "hour" so to speak with a 13th to round everything out. I'll need to talk to mods about it because there is a character/word minimum required to publish a new story, but the way the prologue is currently set up, there's no way I can currently meet that minimum with what I have planned as an introduction since everything after that is part of the actual meat of the story, so I'll need to see if I'm allowed to cheat (for lack of a better term) and initially publish the first chapter just to meet the minimum to start the story and go back after that's done to edit it to be the prologue length instead, or if I'll need to just fluff out the prologue (which I'd rather not do as I feel that takes away from its impact). That's all in the future, though, and I'll need to ask around when I get to that point.
