My Top 10 Giant Monster Films (as of 2018) · 11:35pm Dec 25th, 2018

Happy Holidays to you, friends, ponies, and overall friendponies and fellow bronies one and all. Here's a little treat I've got for you, in honor of the latest Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer, and something to reminisce over on this cold time of the year. What can I say? Giant monster films are sometimes the most entertaining films out there. Nyaheh.

Top 10 Giant Monster Films (as of 2018)

10.
King Kong (1933)

The only big beast America made so well that Japan was the one pulling an America, taking him under their wing for a while in the height of the monster-making career that would define them for several generations.

9.
Godzilla (2014)

An American take on Japan's big G done right.

8.
Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995)

In which a dying god faces off for one final time against none other than the devil himself.

7.
Mothra (1961)

Further cementing my love for moths with the introduction of cinema's very best one.

6.
King Kong (2005)

The Return of the King.

5.
Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989)

Dark and spectacular, delivering incredible visuals in the form of Biollante herself, and the same grim, eternal message as the original Godzilla film.

4.
The Host (2006)

A film not often spoken about in this day and age, but one that damn well deserves to be, showcasing the perfect blend of humor, horror, emotion, satire, and political outspokenness... all in one big, thrilling ride to remember.

3.
Pacific Rim (2016)

A fantastic Giant Robots vs. Giant Monsters movie, made by people who loved and respected Giant Robots vs. Giant Monsters movies.

2.
Godzilla (1954)

Proof that you just can't beat the classics. Well, save for...

1.
Shin Godzilla (2016)

A people determined to destroy the monster forged from all their vices and all their sins.
A suffering animal, born lost and alone into a world that seeks only its death, acting purely on instinct to survive whatever is thrown at it.
Humanity shall be graced by the unrestrained wrath of the divine, and their name is Godzilla.
