Heh, I plan to get a blog post on my expanded MLP Favorite Character by the end of the month and end of the year in fact :raritywink:

4980751
That'll take you a while.

4980752
yeah, but thankfully I'm setting up a Txt Document for it so that it won't take me all day to type it :raritywink:

4980755
Heh, I rank Daybreaker at #110 for me :3

My favorite character is a 4-8-2, engine number 4501.

4980954
That's resident at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

4980761
Do remember Jimmy's list is INCREDIBLY long.

4980997
Yep! And I've been on her footplate, running a shovel.

Man, I was in heaven when she got an auto stoker. Feed water heater was nice, too. Although, I haven't seen her since two thousands fifteen.

... I wonder if 630 is still running, or if her flue time is up.

4981005
630 is still running, and 610 will soon be running again.

I had a cab ride on a 2-8-2t at Mount Ranier, and have even fired a Shay (under supervision).

4981006
From first fire, to blow down, I was on either 4501 or 630 if at all possible. Best days of my life. And it's good to hear 610 is coming out of the works... even if I don't remember seeing her over much to begin with.

How'd that little Shay pull? They're Coal hogs with no draw from what I've been led to believe. Ever get on the Main line, or just a branch?

I must admit, rail steam was a limited experience for me. Mostly traction, stationary and marine are what I've run. Oilers, coal burners and wood, vertical, horizontal, fire tube or water tube; I've probably brought it under pressure. If not for a living, then for the sake of keeping it alive. Something to stay busy.

4981012
It was exhausting, and incredibly noisy as well. They also burn really badly, if the quantities of soot flying around were anything to go by. I had to wear ballistic goggles!

4981013
... did you rake the fire? And of course you needed ballistic goggles, anything involving that much heat and pressure is gonna spit cinders. And please tell me the firebox gate wasn't open the whole time.

4981017
I can't remember if I did. I was being told what to do but was only at the fire for about 20 minutes. And mercifully, the firehole door was closed at points.

4981019
Well, it could have been worse.

4981020
Quite easily. I feel sorry for Prince Charles firing Duchess of Sutherland over Ais Gill.

4981021
Oh, sweet heavens. That couldn't have been pleasant.

4981028
He was actually assisting the booked fireman, who had a partial back injury. The exchange reportedly went like this;
Driver: Sir, would you like to fire the engine over Ais Gill?
Prince Charles: I'd better not, I have a bad back.
Fireman: Truth be told sir, mine's not great either.
(Prince Charles picks up a shovel)
Prince Charles: Then let me help.

Scootaloo is precious :3
