Alright so I can clear the air here let me make one thing perfectly clear. I write stories based on a lot of different things and one of them happens to be music. Now I in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM OWN ANY OF THE MUSIC I USE TO WRITE THESE STORIES IT IS PURELY FOR FICTION AND IT IS ALL TOLD IN A WHAT IF ALTERNATE UNIVERSE CONTEXT.
I'm not out to get sued or anything I'm just trying to write for fun and the songs I use are good for context cause they fit so perfectly. Now granted the artists I usually use in these context are the following: Charlie Wilson, Brain McKnight, Ne-Yo and Usher. I am not very into female artists that sing to be honest and the songs I find aren't very good from them but these 4? Always perfect and it just works. I make sure to edit the lyrics as much as humanly possible and in a lot of cases? The songs are done in Duet when most if not ALL of these are solos with a few exceptions. People do covers of songs at weddings and events ALL THE TIME I KNOW BECAUSE MY COUSIN IS A RECORDING ARTIST AND MANAGER so this isn't something new and they aren't looking to strike people who write fanfiction. Now if this was YouTube or something? That's different but that isn't the case here. SO that being all said? I will continue to make stories but I will now have to just make it clear what I do and do not own WHICH IS FINE. I just want the freedom to write what I want; I already obey the rules here so what's REALLY the harm of using a well fitting song or two in a story? That's all. PSA and Rant over. I need a smoke.
