Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

    One final thing...

I have been advised by no less an authority than CHS acting Vice-Principal Ms. Cheerilee to use the upcoming Midnight Rising chapter as strictly a recap to relaunch the story, and not get into Lemon Zest until the following chapter, when I can devote a full entry to it without any split in focus. No, really. She did. You’ll see what I mean when the chapter launches, but basically, I’m

I have reached a decision on Midnight Rising...

Thanks in part to one final comment that came to me over PM last night. It wasn't a mean comment. In fact, it was nothing but a simple, politely asked question from a reader I hadn't heard from before: do you have to read the griffon chapters to understand what comes after?

Nightmare Night update · 2:11pm Dec 11th, 2018

As you might guess, I’ve been taking it easy the last couple weeks, slowing down the pace of my writing, but I haven’t stopped completely. The next Nightmare Night chapter currently stands at around 4600 words and will have a surprise opening section taking place from a new perspective in Canterlot and hopefully whetting appetites for the big Thunderlane scene, which I’m writing generally a few hundred words of at a time. Sex and battle scenes (like in Firefly) are a bit weird for me that way; it’s rare I can just plow right through them as I can other topics. The new chapter is coming along nicely, though, I’m enjoying what I’ve put down and I’ve even decided on alternate names for each converted weather team member.

There is a chance the new chapter could be ready for this weekend depending on me finding the proper frame of mind and enough opportunities to write. Regardless, readers are reminded that TEH GAY will be quite heavy and gleeful for this chapter, which I know is a huge point of attraction for some and not-so-much for others. For the former, you have the full chapter, and for the latter, you’ll have the opening section, at least.

I’m also thinking about going back to the previous chapter and adding an opening section for that one, perhaps showing what’s up with Luna attending Nightmare Night festivities at the bat-pony town of Hollow Shades. I also need to retcon the story in certain places to at least hint that the two Pinkie Pies have switched places, and perhaps also to hint at events in the opening section of this new chapter in the earlier check-in with Discord. But that will be later. As always, more updates will follow as we get closer and the chapter gets further along.

It's good to see you're making progress and I am certainly interested in the alternate names for the members of the weather team and in the surprise you mentioned.
