I went to watch Mortal Engines and have returned a sullen husk of a man in need of a lie down.
This has nothing to do with anything, other than I'd rather hoped to continue wordsmithing on returning home only to find myself entirely without enthusaism for anything. Sigh.
We continue.
Well. Thanks for recommending something to not watch, I guess.

Read the book, and know joy as I did.

I believe I have, but it was so long ago. I seem to recall that it had one of those open-ended "maybe I'll write a sequel, maybe I won't" endings?

I always like that hedge-betting stance of the unsure. Like the first Matrix!
Don't know why that was my first thought ..
I'm biased about the books, of course, because I've got a soft spot for Hester Shaw a mile wide and would forgive her a lot.
That movie any good? It looks interesting just cant decide if its worth the money.

Visually wonderful with some shots that are really quite something. As a film trying to tell a story? Eh. As an adaption of a book I really, really like a whole lot? Ehhhhh.
But I'm heavily biased, so maybe give it a shot then blame me later if it turns out you didn't like it.

Haven't read the books. I know of them but no clue what it was about. I might just wait till its on dvd since i have spiderverse and maybe bumblebee to watch.

There are so many films racking up right now, it's kind of crazy.
And I always remembered the books as "That thing wot came out back when I was in school" then I read the first one a couple of years back and fucking loved it. Conceptually it hits so many notes I like it's like the motherfucker crawled into my head.
Hester Shaw is great. I'll forgive basically anything she does. Including just about everything in the second book. Which is saying something.

There are not too many authors i could say that about. I try my damnest to not read anything about an author as it always ruins the book for me.
