Which router (brand/model) and which mode thy WiFi is in? If 't be true thou hast mixed mode enabled, that may cause signal fluctuations. Having no older B and G devices at home, thou can safely turn N-only mode for WiFi, signal shalt be more stable.
Thick walls and armature inside them can shield the signal greatly. Positioning thy router, so the coverage is nearly equal everywhere, can help likewise.
