Finishing the Arc + Hearth's Warming Story · 4:05am Dec 5th, 2018
So, good news people: I'm actually getting to work on finishing up the last chapter of the current arc of "In Somepony's Shadow". Happy Hearth's Warming Eve gift, I guess (heh). Overall, if I had to go back and redo this, and bit more experience writing fanfiction and not RPs, I'd be tempted to say the pacing could have been a lot better, more drawn out conflict. Admittedly a bit of bad habit I've picked up is I can imagine some good scenes but get a bit impatient at the actual build up needed for the moment. Could have built it up a lot more on Trixie's personal insecurity, feeling Luna might kick her out, Discord taunting her, etc. So as I start thinking on the next arc (got a broad idea what I want to do, but got details), gonna try and think about that. And, like, maybe have more than one scene a chapter or something, lol.
In the meantime, though, still gonna need an outlet for stuff that isn't dissertation and job applications (yay academic job market), so I would like to announce I'm starting to plan out another potential shorter but probably multi-chapter story involving Trixie and Starlight (if you haven't noticed, I like writing Trixie stories). Gonna be holiday themed, incorporating an idea I had back at around Father's Day into the story as well. No way it's done during the holidays, but it gives me something to work on during the Winter Break. So look forward to that.
Basic Synopsis for it: Trixie and Starlight head off to visit Starlight's father for the Hearth's Warming Eve holidays. Expecting Trixie to be mortified by her father's overbearingness, Starlight soon finds herself confused and a little jealous at the two of them quickly becoming best friends. This Hearth's Warming, Starlight comes to learn that sometimes the best present a pony could ask for is the gift of family.

My mom watches a lot of Hallmark Christmas movies, so I apologize for that last line. I also have no clue for a title, cause I suck at those. Yay.
