I thought you all might like to know the reason I've been quiet as of late and that's because I've been working on other non-pony related writing projects. I am still working on my pony stories as well. And as time allows, I had nearly forgotten that I have chapter 5 of "Then There Was You" almost ready to post. So much has happened in the past two years, which is why I decided to take a long look at everything I have going on here and outside of MLP. And regrettably, due to time constraints, some mistakes and a need to re-evaluate some projects, I've placed a few of my stories "on hiatus" for now. Some are simply due to a lack of drive.
As much as I hate to admit it, the MLP series is starting to lose its appeal to me. The reason I have been putting so much effort into "The Sparkle In His Soul" is that it's given me a chance to reboot my HiE universe and work on a story where I have a clear vision and a "beat sheet" with all the major events for the outlined 21 chapters the story's first arc will have. The other thing I really love about this story is that I've found a way to integrate more of my favorite characters into the story in a relevant way.
Where as for other stories such as "A Total Eclipse of Their Hearts" and "You Brighten My Day", they lack any clear vision or direction. I had an idea for Luna's story but it feels like it's grown out of control and will take way too much retooling to end in a reasonable time frame. As far as Celestia's story is concerned, I never expected it to become what it is. Originally the idea I had for Tia's story was just this: Celestia ends up on Earth, sneaks into the home of a human, they hit it off and to blow off the shackles of leadership, Celestia was going to dress up as a maid and serve the human. The main romance/clop scene was going to be the human making love to her in her maid's outfit. It was never supposed to be a multi-chapter story, just a one-shot clop fic. But as I gave the story more thought and decided to skip the poorly formed clop it was originally going to be, I opted for a story that held Celestia in a better light and showed the reader how she was feeling and just how the burden of leadership had worn her down. And now, due to how it's grown, I'm unsure if my original conclusion will still come through as powerful as I envisioned it in my mind or if it will just fizzle out like a deflating balloon. I've tried starting chapter 10 five times and each time I hate what I've come up with. That's the main reason why it's sat in limbo for the past two years.
For now, I'm just going to stay the course and post content as I complete it, while I continued with my other projects. I can't give any projections at the moment, while my employer is shutting down the facility I work at (rumored sometime late 2019 early 2020), the holiday season is busy which means I'll be soaking up some major OT. But at the very least, I wanted to give you all some idea of what's going on.

I stopped watching after season five was done. So I know only too well this feeling.
It's not a good thing to hear that your employer is shutting the place where you're working though. I can imagine that is creating some serious problems for you on some level.

I've kept up with it to the current season, even despite never truly understanding what everybody saw in it since g4's beginnings.
Thank you for creating and share what you have done. I've enjoyed it very much. I can understanding burning out on a subject. I've been looking forward to "The Sparkle In His Soul" and "Cherish Heart". I hope you'll be able to continue them when you have a chance. I'm sorry to hear about work. Being burnt out is a good way to put it, as for me I find myself watching more anime than mlp. Don't get me wrong, I still go back and watch seasons 1 and 2 of FiM. Those were the seasons I had a ton of fun watching.

I'm just taking things one day at a time. And at least I have time to search for something else. Most places will just up and toss you out and not even give you time to catch your breath. So, I'm grateful for that.

Like most tend to agree the show hit it's apex in season 2. Some had posed the question, if "A Canterlot Wedding" had been the series finale, how would you feel? While I would have been sad, part of me would have been okay with it. The series just hasn't been the same since the season 3 pilot. Seasons following have been okay at best with a few gems here and there, but not like seasons 1 and 2 where I enjoyed almost every episode in the season. The movie was a bit of a let down, entertaining, but not what I was hoping for given the trailer and the hype.

Those were the cream of the crop to be sure. It's sad how the rest of the series has gone. I have through season 6 on DVD, but have only seen about half of season 7 and don't even find season 8 remotely interesting based on the episode synopses on Freindship is Wiki. And while I may be burned out regarding MLP in some cases, the other thing is that my non-pony project is really taking off and has a chance to help me create my own original story content. One where I'm not limited by another creator's IP (intellectual property) and official series canon. But as I am able, I'll be updating four of my ongoing stories, which are featured on my user page.

I just tend to treat all seasons the same as each other, like I've done with any other show besides ponies.
