What my dad thinks of the fandom

Hey I’m back, Somewhat. Was on a break for a month to show my dad I’m not obsessed with ponies. We talked and here’s what my dad has to say about my ‘obsession’ with ponies. Feel free to add your input;
And TOO BE completely fair, he is a worried parent, and retired cop who cares for his kid and tries to make me ask questions about what I like.

-the majority of the world thinks of grown man who watches girl show as a sexual predator.
-claims behind the scene of bronycon last 12 sexual pedos were arrested by undercover cops (would love if someone could back this up)
-I am not open at all to other fandoms at all
To be fair he also added I’ll still always come back to MLP even when I’m done with say assassins creed or warrior
-tried to argue Disney can do what mlp dosn’t, his was Disney markets to everyone, mlp just to kids
-what I care more of than ponies are my friends, so I should try to make new friends in other less contravetal fandom
.Side note I felt too meek to mention was how summer friends melt like the snow but winter friends last forever.
-I am completely oblivious to the bad, such as how pony sites can and are used to lure kids to dangerous individuals, and there are undercover cops who lure in said predators by pretending to be kids
-oh, and when I asked if he’s even watch to show to try and understand what makes it appealing, he didn’t care and say it doesn’t mater just for the bad.
-Yeah May just be me, but he tends to only focus mainly on the negative of the fandom. Which, now to his defense, he is a parents worried about his kid and his inmage
-interesting note, he tried to make an example of giving up something I love with how he lived nikey shoes, but now wants nothing to do with them just because the company promoted a guy who wants all cops to die
-every single day I do something pony and that’s a problem

Note I’m open to anyone who wants to agree with anything he has to say. I’m not oblivious; I know bad things exist and people can and do associate kids shows with pedos, BUT, and this is what I hate of me, I was too spineless (and maybe just didn’t have enough evidence) to say probably most people don’t or even care or would care less for me.
But what do you think? Would love to hear some input good or bad.

Give him an ultimaium, watch three episodes of the series with you and if by the show's own merits it's good he doesn't bring it up ever again.

That, I'll admit, can be problematic in some people's eyes. My dad was initially perplexed until I mentioned the fact the show has railways in it, hence the rail theme in many of my stories.

The bit about Disney is a red herring, methinks. The stuff from the 70s was awful!

I'm sorry your father is too short-sighted, ignorant, stubborn, and over-protective for his own good. Being so fearful of something he knows pretty much nothing about, and even seeing bronies as pedos. It's very hurtful and frustrating. What he doesn't get is that those possible sexual pedos that were at Brony Con, or browsing around on MLP related sites were not really bronies at all to begin with. Those sickos are giving bronies a bad image we don't deserve. It's like saying that people who teach at schools, or doctors and nurses who care for children are pedos. In reality, there can be pedos anywhere. They can look, behave, and have fascinations with anything like everyone else.
My point is that he shouldn't judge bronies or anyone as pedos without any evidence or proof.

There is a passage in the bible about judgement.

Matthew 7:1-5

Judging Others

1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Someday, your father will have to learn this, and eventually be more open-minded, otherwise he will lose you. And if that happens, he will have no one to blame for it but himself for being so short-sighted, ignorant, and stubborn.

I'm sorry to be so harsh on your father, but it's the truth.

Its understandable for him to worry, but maybe he should give a few episodes with you a shot. Pick a few good ones (prefeeably somethin that anyone can hop into and not the rough start of season 1 ep 1 :p ) and let him know you understand the negative side of things and arent a part of nor interact with it. The show itself is great at times and people wjll ruin things as always. Ask him if judging a creation based on the minority out of thousands who watch it is honestly fair. [Sorry for rambling.
