    New Story out now!

Hey everyone! Remember that thing I said I'd be doing a while back? Well... Here it is!

    Hey guys! What's new?

So, I haven't been here in a good long while. I got the writing itch a while back, specifically for ponies and my old Betaverse fics. I might have something in the pipeline. I've got a few questions I'd like to ask the general pony-reading audience if you don't mind. Just so I can see if my writing style should be tweaked a bit for the modern audience.

    Stardrop's Lackluster Ending

Hello everyone. I know I've been away for a while, but that's due to me deciding to finish stories before I post them to revise, edit, and alter them to give you all better stories to read. I don't feel free to do so when I post stories live. This results in me getting frustrated with how a story is shaping up and then dropping it. That wasn't a problem when I was younger, but it's become one as

Anyone know artists who do illistrations for stories?

I'm low key working on a story which I intend to complete before posting. I'm enjoying being able to go back and improve, tweak, and change things to make the best possible version of the story, and it's nice to not feel like I am bound to a strict schedule of uploads.

A metatextual analisis of "The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" to show how it fits in the series timelines

A lot of people like the rebooted XCOM series, and a lot of people also insist its lore is bad/nonexistent. This isn't true in my opinion, but is the product of the game that sets up the world for the series having been released a year after the first game in the series as a prequel, and also it sucks ass to play. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is not a good game. At all. The story is really good,

So about that idea for my next story. · 7:04am Nov 25th, 2018

I have decided that I will do this story idea next because of several reasons. I explained my love of Fallout Equestria last time, so how about I go into the other reasons for doing an FoE fic and then tell you some of my idea. I think you'll like it!

  1. I love FoE.
  2. Pip's has this Once and Future King thing going for her, I have an idea for that future.
  3. Homage deserves more than "hanging out near Pip".
  4. FoE dosn't mention Cadence or Changelings (Cuz it's from early 2011).
  5. I want to see some stuff from Fallout 2 done with pones.
  6. I want to see some stuff from NV done with pones.
  7. I want to see some stuff from F4 done with pones.
  8. I dont think anyone, and I do mean anyone, has adapted anything from the ORIGINAL Fallout 3, and guess what I happen have...

No. I dont have access to the Tech Demo if Van Buren, nor do I have access to additional videos of said demo. I have something arguably better. I have the entire design document set. Everything made before the project was canceled (as far as I am aware).

I know how the entire storyline of Van Buren is supposed to go. I dont think anyone has adapted VB even though these docs are not too hard to find. I want to use parts of the VB story line, along with ideas from F2, NV, and F4 to make a sequel to Fallout Equestria which will allow Pip to return to an active life within the Wasteland, and beyond.

I will now describe my story idea. BEWARE SPOILERS!

The story begins right after FoE's Afterword, just a few days. A small group of airships begins to approach Eqeustria. Pip spots them via the SPP's surveillance systems and warns people assuming they are hostile. An army gathers, the NCR wisely decides to let the airships fire first... But they do not fire. Instead, an announcement is given. "Citizens of Equestria: We are the <Yet to be thought of name of a nation>. We come in peace. Our weapons are for defense only. We are enroute to Junction Town on a diplomatic mission." TLDR; Diplomasy happens and the ships are allowed to approach under NCR escort.

Once the vessels arrive at Junction Town, they land. Calamity notices these airships are not pre-war designs, at least, not one he recognizes. Most worryingly to him, they are armed exclusively with plasma-based weaponry that looks a good bit beefier than he's ever seen. The airship's landing ramp opens and a small group of robed ponies exists. Most are ghouls, who seem to be in very good physical shape. Too good to be from the now Radiation free Equestria. Some of them are even well preserved enough to look like a normal but very ill pony at a glance. Leading them is a single mare covered in a full body covering red and gold robe which appears more monastic order than nobility.

The mare introduces herself as Whirling Gears, and informs everyone gathered that her nation's Queen, and its Over-engineer (a posision much like an Overmare, only with more building things and less sheltering) has invited President to a meeting to discuss a possible trade deal. Infrastructure for food. See, the <whatever I'll call it> formed around a very remote Equestrian city WAY up north (Crystal Empire north). SO far up north it wasn't a priority target for Zebras and as a result it wasn't hit with megaspells, just shelled to shit with rockets containing low-yield explosives. The city survived fairly intact, but the radiation blew up north during the first winter after the megaspells, irradiating the place with magical blizzards... And waking up the Windigos.

The city was assailed by the Spirits of Hatred for decades, managing to hold out thanks to a MAS outpost in town which had been an R&D center, and the "Greenhouse Shield" prototype created there. Eventually, a tribe of Zebras made it to the town, seeking refuge from the Windigo ravaged north, and were granted entry. In thanks the tribe's shamans began to work on a way to combat the windigo, now that they had the time, safety, and resources to do so.

Eventually, the town was able to find ways to ward off the spirits, at which time the former MAS scientists and mages did their best to repair the town's infrastructure. Over the last 200 years, the northlands (at least the ice and snow parts of them) have managed to band together and form a small but technologically capable nation. It just can't easily feed itself due to well, weather conditions and location. Once the sun came back, the north decided they needed to know what had happened, but also began to build greenhouses.

Unfortunately, their agricultural knowledge wasn't very good, and food is fairly scarce in spite of the sun. The <name of northland nation>'s Queen ordered scouts to head south to see if the wasteland was habitable and if it was, to construct a test farm to see if growing food and trucking it up by airship was practical. The scouts were shocked to see that ponies were alive and semi-well in the wasteland, with a brand new government and everything. It had been believed for centuries that the Wasteland was a Mad Mare hellscape of Thunderdomes and Fury Roads full of radiation so bad it would cook even a ghoul to death.

Over the last few years the Norths' scouts learned all they could about Equestria, and returned that knowledge to their nation. Along with a copy of the Book of Littlepip. The north's population was asked to vote on what should be done about the food situation since the soulthlands were inhabited and governed. The ponies chose to try diplomacy, and so here they are, offering skilled workers, knowledge, labor, and technology (some of which is better than pre-war technology. Imagine an institute that's not evil, but is handicapped in other ways), in exchange for food.

Proper talks must be had in the north. The Queen cannot leave her palace, and the Over-engineer who would normally serve as her Steward is unfortunately occupied with a matter of the utmost importance and cannot leave her Library. Furthermore, the Over-engineer seemed to be afraid of going south as she believed she might be attacked given the events of the last decade. The NCR is asked to send diplomats with the authority to make real legal decisions, or even to send their President herself, along with as many soldiers as they believe necessary to keep them safe to attend a proper meeting, at their soonest convenience. The airships will remain where they are now to provide transport when the NCR is ready.

The same mare then takes Velvet, Calamity, Xenith, and Homage aside and informs them that the Over-engineer has only recently heard the The Book of Littlepip, during the broadcast of it 4 months ago, and would also like to speak to the four of them in private to discuss a reward for their assistance in returning the sun and making agriculture easy again. A reward, with a catch. See, the Over-engineer has the need of an extremely skilled Toaster Repair Pony...

A good chunk of the story would be learning about the Over-engineer (Who has led a rather interesting life, and will have to earn the trust of Pip's friends), the North, and all of that. Another good chunk would be that mission Pip is needed for. What do you think?

Well hell you'd know I'd read it

It's an interesting idea

You know i will read it. Just odd to pick up after the ending instead of doing a nother main story line like some of the others.

4972656 Perhaps a little odd, yeah. But I think I could make this work.

4972660
When you do thid ima have to go reread the hole thing again and its gonna make me cry. Your gonna make me cry.

It seems very interesting.

4972661 I'll make it up to you later :3

If its to get the TV broadcast system up and running again using stuff created after the war?

That would be the New Tech Video Toaster then? :trollestia:

Wonder if there could be research into balloon plasma lamps for lighting up fields, like Mini Suns, maybe even by someone like Verne Trotter?:derpytongue2:

Then again, if theres a following story writen, means Id have to go and read the starting story. Not sure why I havent yet. Maybe the crushing devastation? :pinkiesad2:

Then again, if there's a following story written, means Id have to go and read the starting story. Not sure why I haven't yet. Maybe the crushing devastation? :pinkiesad2:

Do it ;3 Should only take a few days. But if you don't it wont really be necessary. A good story can pull off filling people in without weighing down its own story.

Please do the thing, pretty please. I’m a sucker for characters I like returning to life after sacrificing themselves.

4972691 I'm a sucker for cute lesbian horses... And I have a lore friendly way for Pip to be with Homage :3

You got me excited when you said you had a FO:E idea

Sounds good to me. It would be nice to read something in that setting that avoids the original fic's relentless misery. I know, the misery, and the overcoming of such, was largely the point of the thing, but still.

Oi.

And do I espy a nod to everyone's favorite toaster-worshiping tech-cult? I highly approve of this idea.

4972694 That was my idea. I want to well, there WILL be fallout level grim stuff. But come on, I'm me! YOu know I do happy endings. Unless I have a sequil planned XD

And do I espy a nod to everyone's favorite toaster-worshiping tech-cult? I highly approve of this idea.

All i can say is the next sentane of this song is the only appropriate reponce.
https://youtu.be/KhCL5Ygzc24?t=101

Sounds interesting.

A peaceful nation of the frozen north ruled by a Queen which avoided the brunt of what happened to its southern neighbor, but still suffered from the fallout?
Caneighda.

I want to read it now, it sounds like a great idea. Make sure Kkat is cool with it too since it is her character's. If this come to fruition I will definitely read it.

4972731 According to the wiki, and http://www.fallout-equestria.com/ , Kkat is totally cool with fanfics of her fanfics, but has stated that they are considered non-canon in all forms (obviously :P). But, just to be double sure, I've asked. Frankly, I doubt she'll reply. Whats more, I know other fics have used Pip before (Notably Project Horizons) and she allegedly likes Horizons, so you know.

At any rate, I want to state something for the record. I find it a little silly to not be okay with people using your characters given we're fan fiction authors and the "original work" is a fanfic. It's just a little bit massively hypocritical to demand you retain exclusive use of characters who appear in a story that heavily depends on another person's work already. If anyone wants to do fanfction of my fanfiction, or use characters I have made, they are not only welcome to them, but my other resources, such as maps, timelines, and calendars.

Frankly, I am very much an advocate for companies releasing their IPs creation bibles as free public resources and letting anyone make any sort of story they like with them. The best stuff always floats to the top and the only thing you have to loose is making the best of the best version of something you made. Personally, I would be delighted to see my ideas done better than I ever could. The amount of love on display in a project like that would keep me feeling positive for a month at least.

The only reason I ask permission when using another fanfic author's work is expressly because of how irrationally and hypocritically angry some of us get >.> Fortunately, kkat is not one of those people, but she gets a courtesy PM anyways because she's awesome.

4972731 Just to be through, here's kkat's policies on FoE fics in her own words:
i.imgur.com/E7kV0HA.png

Littlepip's sacrifice was integral to the story in my opinion. Having her walk about freely again will disperse most of the grim tone that was part of FO:E's charm. Also, skeptic as i am i fear you might mess up on character representation (or simply have a different interpretation than I :P) so i'd personally prefer some original characters. That said, it's a fanfiction so in the end anything goes :D
Besides, i read your stories for expertly crafted worlds more than anything. Keeping this in mind I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy you putting all the lore together for a coherent world.
I guess i better start catching up on some backlog. Looking forward to it. :pinkiehappy:

That said, i've found an interpretation that somewhat mitigated her separation from Homage. Celestia can control the shield at will so she can let Homage in for a day. Weather most likely can do without her permanent supervision so there's no total isolation.

4973164

Littlepip's sacrifice was integral to the story in my opinion.

I agree. For the purposes of that story, ending it another way makes little sense. Especially since there's really no one else who could be trusted to run the SPP and not use it as a way to be the God King. But I am not talking about that story. I'm talking about a new story, one 10 years or more down the line.

Spoilers, but I have a way to do this and not have it nullify that sacrifice:

1. The OC who is plotting a way to get Pip free is not doing it entirely out of the good of their heart. They NEED Pip, specifically her*.

2. Loosing 10 or 20 years of your life is a massive sacrifice, especially as it costs you proper quality time with loved ones.

3. Recall Pip's issues with being "less pony" and how she sees herself as a monster due to her mutations? The only way to get her out of the SPP for more than a few days (due to her failing body... Which makes no sense as she has ghoul regen now) and not doom everyone would involve her becoming even less pony than she is now**. She'd hate it, but in this case, it's necessary.

4. Van Buren ends on an orbital station meant to fire nukes. In this case, it would be Megaspells (Non-Balefire as Zebras wouldn't ever go into space. Kkat has said ponies shad offensive MS other than Celestia Prime, so yeah), and it woudl have been taken over by Enclave Remnants. OC behind trying to free Pip has extremely personal reasons for NEEDING to stop them from using said nukes to regain control of the skies.

*Though this could be changed if I change the story line. Howeaver, they would still want Pip due to her impossible luck and skill with hacking pre-war technology.
**On reflection, that might break her even more than she is broken now. If so, that would require the story be rewritten anyways. Wanna help me on this? :D PM me :3

Having her walk about freely again will disperse most of the grim tone that was part of FO:E's charm.

See my above points on why I don't think the grim tone would be lost. Howeaver, might I add that the Afterword where we see the world created by Pip already did that IMO? We have foals playing happily and going to school, not knowing hunger or danger, in a land with sunshine, rainbows, and plenty of food. Most of the Wasteland dies at the end of the story.

I don't see Pip's return to the world below as removing more of the grimness given all of that. The story clearly bookends the dark chapter of Equestrian history, and points us towards a brighter future of hope with a hint of rebuilding the world.

Also, skeptic as i am i fear you might mess up on character representation (or simply have a different interpretation than I :P) so i'd personally prefer some original characters. That said, it's a fanfiction so in the end anything goes :D

I'm worried about that too. WHich is why I planed on using very few of them to any real extent. Thus far, only Homage and Pip are required in any large capacity.

Besides, i read your stories for expertly crafted worlds more than anything.

Thanks :3 I appreciate that. Though I hope my characters and narratives aren't bad :c

That said, i've found an interpretation that somewhat mitigated her separation from Homage. Celestia can control the shield at will so she can let Homage in for a day. Weather most likely can do without her permanent supervision so there's no total isolation.

Where is it stated that Celestia can control the shield? When she offers to let Pip leave she does so by opening a dragon fire portal, not lowering the shield. The only way I know of for Homage to get in woudl thus to be burned alive by Spike, then burned alive again to get out.

4973350
Now that I've had time to think about it there probably is a way to get her out. I'll gladly write you a PM with comments and ideas.

Thanks :3 I appreciate that. Though I hope my characters and narratives aren't bad :c

They're fine as far as i can tell. I did quite enjoy Carla, Ameili and Co. World building is the first thing i got to know you for, that's why it's the first thing coming to mind.

Where is it stated that Celestia can control the shield?

Uhmm. Don't think it is actually. It's been quite some time since i read it, though i'm pretty certain there's a way to turn it off on the inside (Be it as part of the SPP or C by Celestia). I believe it was stated that the shield was kept up by Celestia, hence it's survival for 200 years without degradation. She made the mainframe a souljar and should be in control of pretty much everything inside the facility. Due to the war outside lowering the shield wasn't an option though and wouldn't get Pip far away enough.

Well,I'm off to brainstorm.

4973928

She made the mainframe a souljar and should be in control of pretty much everything inside the facility.

Unfortunately a memory orb from Dash makes it clear that the sentient part of the Crusader Mainframe was disconnected from the parts that ran the SPP because she specifically wanted a pony in control and that is why Celestia hasn't cleared up the weather herself. She didn't know that her Soul Jar wouldn't be hooked into anything...

Yes, so mich yes that the word yes is not worthy.

4974686 The plotting has begun :3 This will be a thing.

4973969
I'ts been quite some time, but isn't the facility separate from the SPP. It houses the control pod for the SPP but doesn't the maneframe run the facility and thus it's defenses. I thought it was at least very much implied that it was Celestia keeping up the shield.

4974843 No. I just re-read it. The facility is atop the primary SPP tower and Celestia went to it because she thought souljaring herself to the crusader there would let her control the weather to undo the pegasi's skyseal.
