    Unspoken

The simple question of "How you guys doing?" ain't as prosaic as it used to be.

This is cool, new, and fits the mood

    Echoes in the Well, pt.3

I know. "Again? Who cares! It's cut stuff from an old fic!"

I've realized something, though, as I've been gathering this up: I'm doing this for me. I'm laying something to rest. I'm letting go of a lingering sense of what might-have-been, which in its own way is a part of the story of what ended-up-being.

Maybe it's even the last part of the story.

    Echoes in the Well, pt.2

As I mentioned last time: there's a mountain of cut content from To Serve In Hell, including some nuggets that I very much regretted having to take out. I've already shared a couple of those stronger moments with you, and discussed the thought process that lead to both adding and ultimately removing them.

    Echoes in the Well, pt.1

To Serve In Hell generated over 20,000 words of cut content, representing more than a fifth of its final length. Not all of it is fit for presentation. However, a few bits still strike me as memorable or interesting, and I'd like to take a moment to share a couple of them.

As it turns out, our family will be traveling over much of the Thanksgiving week. And while I hate to leave people hanging... the truth is that I do, in fact, love a good cliffhanger. :trollestia: My hope is that you’ll feel Book 2 of To Serve In Hell ends with that.

So: updates will take one full week’s break due to the holiday. Look for Book 3 to begin with Chapter 20 on November 26th.

Spoiler alert: This is how it ends. She totally turns evil and conquers the world. Honest she does. :trollestia: (Source)

Behind the scenes, I’ve been using the chapter-a-day release schedule of To Serve In Hell to put it through one last round of polish. I feel like it’s benefiting from that. So while I could continue releasing chapters while I’m away, I’d rather slow down just a touch to make sure the quality stays high.

Let me take this opportunity to thank you the readers for making this an awesome release. A lot has gone into this on the back end, and it’s fantastic to see it being read and getting a good response. Let me also direct some gratitude and attention to Pascoite, a titan of the fan editing community, who’s still actively working on some editing in Book 4.

But I also want to give an incalculably vast THANK YOU to my main man Moosetasm, who continues to put up with multiple requests per day from me for all kinds of assistance, great and small. This story would not have turned out as it is without his help. Please: if you’re enjoying the story, take a moment to show him some e-love (of a reasonable/legal variety).

And fear not. In the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzenegger: I’ll be back. :pinkiecrazy:

Alright, alright, go enjoy your turkey, just don't let the tryptophan put you into an altered state so that you don't wake up in time to come back...

Oh, yeah, and have a good holiday! :yay:

Have a good Thanksgiving, my man.

I admire your dedication to long stories.

Thank you guys! I hope your Thanksgiving is good as well (if applicable)!

I think this will be my last real longfic until my life situation is materially different, which might take the better part of two decades given the ages of our kids. Novel-writing takes more time than I can really afford to spend away from family etc. right now. Getting it to happen with this one has been a bloody business... not without its joys, but certainly with a great deal of struggle.

However: at this point nothing short of my untimely demise would jeopardize the rest of the release. And even if that were to happen, Moose and others know where everything is. :derpytongue2:
