The Mickey Mouse Protection Act is up for renewal in 2021 after Disney pushed for a brief extension when the 20 year expiration date got close (the original act passed in 1998). Regardless of the overall production values or company policies at Disney, no fictional work should ever be kept out of the public domain for one hundred years or anywhere close to it.
