New one shot going generally well · 8:52am Nov 14th, 2018
Had to scrap a day's worth of work (only like a few hundred words so not a complete waste) so that sucked but the story I had in my head had two jumping off points. Pure comedy which I can do okay and wasn't getting past those few hundred words, or a dramedy. Which like writes itself.
I went with the latter, with a bigger emphasis on comedy. So don't plan for this to be my newest take on cute or weird ideas that continue to build into this weird dark thing that really twists things. Though the plot point of "Luna somehow doesn't know what Hearthswarming is even after years back in Equestria" is complete comedy and probably really weird in concept. The idea of that somehow never coming up is pretty silly.
Will this be okay? From the first section, which I just finished, I don't know. But it does take me a while to get to the good parts generally so I'll just keep writing since the set up is technically done. First scenes are not my forte, though honestly I do seem to be getting better. But since this is planned to be a one shot, it's not like I need to be so fully immersive in my story. I have multiple scenes anyway planned out generally in my head. Romance stories tend to want to get to the meat and potatoes kind of things. Plot is important but like cute stuff is far more important.
Still I don't plan on this to be high art. I plan on this more being either a test of slightly silly comedy bits or slightly cute things. Or the faintest hint of stuff below the surface. Not really a big project. And because of that I'm more using this as a test of things if I ever wanted to fully commit to this.
Though with how I tend to say things aren't a big project and then they turn into a big project? Yeah. Hopefully that doesn't happen.
I usually think of my very few and far between one shots as either really silly ideas or just ideas that I might turn into fully fleshed out later stories. This probably would fit into category two.
Well, I look forward to seeing what you pull out then.
Twilight helping her mare out aye?

Yes. Though I seem to be writing far more comedic bits so far in the story which usually tells me that either it's going to have a few final drama scenes or something cause somehow I get from like really comedic bits to drama by the end.
Though I seem to be writing Luna as unfamiliar with modern society still so that tends to be a lot of the jokes.
Boy do I like subverting humor.
