Update on my Situation · 9:22pm Nov 2nd, 2018
Let me start by thanking everyone profusely for their support. Not just the donations, which are more than I could have ever expected by an order of magnitude, but by the sheer amount of kindness and understanding I've seen.
So, the good news: We've been in contact with the landlord. He's very understanding and willing to work with us. It looks like we'll be able to avoid the worst outcomes. I decided to hold off on posting anything until we'd spoken in person. As I write this we've just handed off the first check less than a minute ago and I am shaking with the adrenaline and relief of it all. I barely did anything and it feels like I ran a mile.
Not that I could run a mile, mind you. I'm in terrible shape!
And there's no bad news to report! I feel like a crushing weight has been lifted off my shoulders. When I woke up this morning I didn't know how all this would turn out - but it looks like it's going to be okay for now, and that's all we can ever ask. Now that my stomach isn't roiling from stress, I'm going to get a decent meal and get back to work writing. I promised people I'd keep putting words on paper and I intend to stick with that.
For the future, I'm working on a Patreon page. I'm not sure what people would like to see as rewards - commissions are certainly something I can manage, maybe voting on which story I work on next? Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas.
Thank you again, everyone, for helping when I needed it most. I'm shocked and touched by the amazing community we've all built here.

Damn, considering how grim your other post sounded, I'm almost amazed by the complete turn around. But on the other hand, I'm not. This site has one of the best communities I've ever been a part of. And I saw several blogs asking for people to donate to you, including a site mod (Wanderer D). It seems everyone is drawn to you, jeez. [As I type, I notice two other staff members have commented. Dang, you're popular, Magnet.]

Indeed. I am an astrophysics grad student, and I believe in the magic of friendship. After what I've had to deal with the last couple of years, I'd be a proper fool not to.
