So right now I’m offering vignettes (roughly 1000-2000 words) as commissions, but instead of paying me you make a donation to charity. Any charity. If you need suggestions, then:
So okay. Originally I was going to raise money for something closer to home but the barn has secured a grant that makes me less worried about it, and I think my efforts would be better focused here.
So I'm thinking that next month I'd like to run a charity event, but this will be a little different from previous events and I'm trying to figure out how to make it work.
In other news, I'm going to be getting a charity thing up and running maybe next month, so that should be exciting. We'll see how it goes, though. The format will be a little different but hopefully it'll be a lot of fun for everyone.
So it hasn't been exactly the best year, really. While I've had a record amount of commissions, it's cut into personal writing time. There's also the whole "working with actual horses" thing, and the fact that, you know, that seems to be even more of a passion for me than writing is. Not that I'm planning to stop writing or anything.
5123370 Gah, same! Appy always looks like a knabstrup, and to hell with telling the drafts apart. At least mine is a Shire, and a gray. Kinda can't mistake him.
Very nice. We had a British Shire for a while at the barn, super well trained, big friendly boy. I was always partial to big horses and I was so sure that was what I was going to end up with, but then I ended up with this guy instead. All for the best, though. He puts up with all the stupid stuff I do better than any other horse or person would.
5123376 Aw he must have been a beauty! And I see that.. he has that gentle eye. And a beautiful mane. I'm jealous! They're always better than a human anyday. My own horse, Staccato, is... a jerk. Simply put, he's a stallion, through and through. I'd love to do more with him, but I figure I'd need to 'fix him' first.
Thanks, I appreciate it. He needs a good bath but he's cleaned up really nicely this last year. 66.media.tumblr.com/e1bb2a504ffe29bfcb3e17405a02433a/tumblr_py1yguzGpL1t7p0cuo3_1280.jpg A stallion, huh? That must be fun. We have a very young stallion we're training at the barn right now. He was gelded but ended up being a cryptorchid so he's still very much a full stallion. He's actually pretty well-behaved, just screams a lot at everything.
5123602 Wow, is he ever pretty. Handsome. Young stallions! They're... certainly fun.
Rescued Staccato, about three years ago. At five, judging by the previous owner and, well, his teeth. He's kept with several other stallions and a couple mares. So, I relate to screaming horses.
How did you end up choosing him? Or did he choose you? Quattro was a rescue, too. They used him and his brothers for behavioral studies classes for the local college, but otherwise no one ever handled him before I adopted him. You'll have to upload your picture somewhere else and then toss me a link because the site doesn't super like uploads, but I'd love to see your stallion. I always like seeing other people's horses.
5123677 He chose me... or something like that. Went lesson-horse shopping for the general barn, and obviously ended up in the stallion pen. There he was; no mane, tail, and just... thoroughly out of shape. Visible-ribs, no muscle, that sort. His eyes just hurt. And when he tried to attack me, I took him home as my personal baby.
Since, he's put on nice weight. Still won't trust anyone, but that's to be expected, I guess.
Thanks, I appreciate that. Your boy sounds very lucky to have you, too, and it sounds like it's worked out really well for you. I'm glad that you two found each other.
Gorgeous horse. Is it... an Andalusian?
5123364
Close. He's a Paso Fino.
5123367
Aw, darn. So close. I do see it, now... the mane itself (gorgeous..) should have given it away.
Yeesh. I'm out of it!
5123368
No worries. All the time I spend with horses and I still can't identify half of them, to be honest.
