Guess what day we have? Well, yes, Halloween. But if you look up a bit, you’ll see it’s also my third anniversary on fimfic. Eeyup, three years of pony fanfiction. And so I just wanted to reminisce a bit about my time here on this site and the brony fandom in general, because looking back I had way more luck than I probably deserve.

So the story how I got into pony isn’t really that big. I was randomly switching channels, when I suddenly saw a pony dressed up like Solid Snake. Yes, my first episode was “It’s about Time” (Goddammit, Larson). It got me curious enough to watch till the end and I was surprised that I found myself enjoying it. I then occasionally watched some episodes until Nickelodeon Germany stopped airing them. I quickly forgot about them until I randomly found out that Disney Channel Germany was airing S4. This time I got curious enough to research a bit about the show and I learned about the brony fandom, which I actually found very interesting. That ultimately led me to watching all seasons and all the cool stuff bronies put on YouTube.

Some time later I saw some of the interesting fanfic recs on EQD and that was my start on this site here. To be honest, before this I was under the common misconception that fanfiction only consists of smutty crackships, self-insert power fantasies or smutty crackships with your self-insert power fantasies. You have to admit that media isn’t doing much against these cliches.

At the beginning I had only planned to read the stories and nothing more. I think there are one or two comments from that time, where I thought I’d stay anonymous. That changed when I started following SuperKamek, who made somewhat regularly blogs about random stuff, mostly video games, and I started to regularly leave comments and through them engage in interesting conversations with him. This encouraged me to also leave comments on other stories and engage a bit more on this site. I still remember when Albinocorn made a big event out of finishing “Long Road to Friendship” and because I had only read the first chapter up to that point I made it my own challenge to catch up before the story was complete. I made it with a few hours to spare.

I enjoyed the content on this site so much that I felt I had to give something back in return. The problem being that I don’t have much experience writing and that my ideas are often way to big for me to put into words. (And not being sure if I have the long term motivation for writing such a big story) Some of these crazy ideas include crossovers between RWBYXKingdomHearts, DanganronpaXNoMoreHeroes, LittleWitchAcademiaXTokyoMirageSessions, MyHeroAcademiaXmanyotherfranchises and much more (many of course including MLP).

At some point I decided to try writing a fanfic, which then ended up being my first story on this site. It didn’t get much attention, but it was positive. My second story got a bit more attention, because it had a recent topic. And then my third story just exploded and somehow even made it into the feature box, I still can’t believe it.

Riding on a rare high of self-confidence I decided to participate in a small collab project known as Sunlight Sliders. For it I also made a Discord account and with that I became a member in Dusty Old Qrow’s Remnants server and Novel’s Nook, where I met lots of awesome people. Btw big shoutout to both servers and the great people in there.

And where am I know? I wrote nine stories on this site, out of which five actually made it into the feature box and one got a reading by Wubcake (still can’t believe that happened) and I don’t know if I deserve all that attention. There are so many people on this site that deserve that much more in my opinion. I’m just an average nerd from germany with the expected lack of self-confidence, nothing special. And still all these wonderful coincidences happened to me. Just last month I played Mario Kart with Albinocorn and DrakeyC, like wtf.

And what next? I’m someone that’s usually content with the status quo and we’ll get at least one more season of MLP (for better or worse). There are actually at least two stories I really want to write. One kinda-sequel to my last story “Six Friends, One Lemon” (Did I ever mention I suck at naming?) and one MLP/Danganronpa crossover of the character in another world variety (an actual character, not some guy in a costume, I have standards).
I’m planning to continue the SAO blogs at least until the end of S2. (because of a HunterXHunter marathon there was no episode last week) What comes after remains to be seen. Since about a year I’ve also started reading fanfics from lots of other franchises and I thought I could make recommendations for those on this site.

So yeah, thank you for reading through this mess of a blog with the structure of a non-scripted YouTube video. What I essentially wanted to say is that I’m really thankful to all the great people I met the last three years on this site and that I hope that all of this continues for as long as possible. Genfic really can’t come soon enough, because I want this great community to stay as long as possible.
There's probably something important I forgot to mention and in a few hours I'll get really annoyed at myself for forgetting.
