I have no idea how widespread this is, but apparently some kids are daring each other to stand in front of a mirror and say 'Candy Mare' five times in the dark.
Apparently if you do she shows up and eats you.
First off, if you aren't in your teens you probably shouldn't know what the Candy Mare is.
But this is too fricken adorable!
I love it. I wonder if they are basing this off Bloody Mary or the movie Candyman? (two things nine year olds should not know about.)
my 8-year-old cousin knows what a threesome is, I think 9-year-olds knowing about some old creepypasta isn’t much of a stretch. Also, it is indeed based off of Blood Mary

Oh I’m not surprised about kids reading my work, the fandom does attract a younger audience even though it’s characterized as all middle-aged men.
More I was wondering if they had seen the movie Candyman since that seems to be the most likely source for the ‘day the name 5 times’ thing comes from, as with Bloody Mary it’s usually 3 times. I suppose it wouldn’t be surprising if some kids had heard of Bloody Mary but Candyman is a bit more esoteric.
