As the title says, an old story, possibly from 2011-2012, has surfaced in my memory with just enough details to make me remember the gist but not the title. A quick Google search has failed to produce any recognizable results, so I'm hoping someone here has either heard of the story or can point me to a resource that can help.
The story is about Twilight Sparkle. Spike is not present. She, through accident or intention, travels to the past. It's not clear what her initial goal was, but I remember she wanted to avoid disrupting history too much (or perhaps that's hints of another time traveling story, "Que Sera Sera," seeping in). At some point, she witnesses a public presentation about a new magical theory, which of course she know from her studies. The problem is that it's presented incorrectly, so being the helpful scientist, she offers the corrected version. Too late does she realize that she's majorly offended the presenting mage, who challenges her to a duel.
I wish I could recall more details, which is why I want to find this story again. All I remember was that she changed her name to something like Blue Star or Blue Shift.
