Writing Plan · 11:02am Oct 21st, 2018
Hello all!
First of all, thank you to anyone who still bothers to check in on my blogs. I'd been inactive for so long that I can't blame anyone who gave up on me. It's the continued support of the readers who haven't that give me the enthusiasm to continue writing.
Now for the reason behind this post: I'm revealing my writing plans. Now, many of you might recall that I've done this in the past and ended up not sticking to said plans. Admittedly, it could happen again, but this time I have a much more solid idea of where things are going (See: the 5 chapters of Lyra's Ultimate Item Emporium that I've recently released).
Anyway, here's the plan:
- Lyra's Ultimate Item Emporium - Finish the story (~ 5 - 6 chapters remaining)
- Ever After Never Came - Finish and post story (sequel to Imaginary)
- To Dream Again - Finish and post story (5 chapters)
- PonyFall: Australia, Sweetie Belle and the Journey to the Kingdom of the Frogs - Complete a full outline for both stories so that they may be completed the same way Lyra's Ultimate Item Emporium will be. Then, continue the stories.
- What Child is This? - (Title could change) - Complete and post story (sequel to If Only in My Dreams)
- The Kindness of Death - Complete a full outline for this story, then begin writing. (Only after the other ongoing stories are finished)
- Sanctuary - This one here is the goal, and could very well be my final fanfic for MLP Gen 4. This story is estimated to span 600k+ words, and will consume all my attention. Thus, it won't be started until the above is finished.
And that's the plan! As you can see, Lyra's Ultimate Item Emporium is very nearly finished after 5 years of writing it. The chapter count may go up slightly, but I estimate it will be finished soon. Ever After Never Came is about 1/4 of the way finished right now and will probably sit around the 8k word mark. To Dream Again was initially scrapped after Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep came out, as the plots are almost identical. However, I've decided to release it anyway, as I was already about 1500 words into it.
From there, the amount of time it will take to finish these is difficult to estimate. Ponyfall: Australia is 125k words already, and I feel I could probably double that once I get the outline finished. Sweetie Belle and the Journey to the Kingdom of the Frogs was initially supposed to be rather short, maybe 5 - 10 chapters long. But it looks like it will be longer.
Anyway, that's what I've got for now. Hopefully there's good news for anyone who's been waiting on any of the listed stories. Thanks for reading!
I'm actually curious, Ponyfall was originally a collaboration between several different authors around the same theme of ponies stranded as ponies on Earth, are picked up and taken care of by humans and are now on a quest to return back to Equestria right? Just wondering if you happen to know the status of the other authors since I'm curious about the concept but didn't really read it yet.
ohai, slorg :D

It's like Fallout Equestria and Five Score.
Lots of people hopped on the bandwagon and started neat stories and then just ground to a halt

A pity. Never heard of Five Score though and for FoE, only read the main and one spin-off featuring JRPG elements.

There have been a few Five Score fics to finish, including the main one and maybe half a dozen others (not including one-shots), so I don't think the comparison quite fits.
I'd compare it more to Your Human And You. The main fic isn't done although there is a decent chance it will be... Eventually. And of the many sidefics, only one of the multi-chapter ones has finished last I checked.

Five Score might scratch a similar itch for you as Ponyfall. Ponies on Earth and bunch of writer collaboration (although not nearly as much as Ponyfall was built around).

Some years ago I realized that most of the other PonyFall writers weren't going to catch up and/or finish their stories. At that time, I came up with a rather rushed ending and completed my part of the story.
A while later, I decided I wasn't happy with the rushed ending, so I deleted the final two chapters and rewrote them in a way that allows the story to continue. I've also announced that, while all of the stories intertwined at one point or another, the truth behind PonyFall is that each story represents a different reality. Think Clue (Cluedo) and "this is how it might have ended." In this way, I could write the story to whatever conclusion I want without waiting on other writers to catch up. They can finish theirs however they want as well, should they choose to do so.
Man, seeing you again is a nice blast from the past.
