Why Brett Kavanaugh's Confirmation is Great(Warning: Political) · 11:01pm Oct 18th, 2018

Please do not read if you don't want to.

So if you've been following news in the USA recently, we just appointed Brett Kavanaugh from Maryland to the Supreme Court of the United States. This is the highest court in the country, the one that interprets the Constitution, our governing legislation, and determines if actions, orders and proceedings are in keeping with the ideals that founded and continue this great nation. And America is great- as are most nations in our world today. Don't wanna cast blame, but North Korea could stand to have a little more work in the human rights department to be great.

Anyway, Justice Kavanaugh was previously accused of all sorts of accusations from well-over 30 years ago when he was a teenager. The truth is important and these matters should be investigated, of course, but after 30 years there has to be some amount of leniency. If Mr. Kavanaugh is found guilty of something, which he probably won't be, I think his record as a judge should be taken into consideration as well as the time. He should be made to make amends for these past issues, whatever they were, but with regards to current standing.

There's a lot of manipulation involved in politics. It was evident in this nomination process and a disgusting thing to watch. I remain a Trump supporter, but as I've said before, that's out of necessity and lack of viable alternatives. Suffice to say the more prominent opponents of President Trump are at this time worse than him and entirely unacceptable. Both sides are guilty of their own transgressions, all sides have their own problems, but one is definitely better for America than the other and it's the Right, not the Left. A middle would be preferable, but since that's not an option, I'm forced to choose which I think is better. The lesser of two evils.

Now, the Supreme Court has 9 members. Given Kavanaugh's background, it is firmly believed he is conservative, though I have concerns. In all honesty, I don't like picking sides- I hope for the best. I wish the Right and Left could reach compromise but it seems there are far too many on the Left that are not open to such notions any longer. I wish the politicians would just do what is in the best interest of the people, give them what they want. But if they can't, I have no qualms of picking the one I believe serves my interest best.

The Supreme Court now has a conservative majority, a solid one for the first time in years. The Affordable Care and Patient Care Act of 2010, aka Obamacare, only passed by a 5-4 ruling. It is my hope that with a conservative majority, such heinous and ruthless legislation will not receive another favorable ruling.

The Left wants to change the United States of America. They forget that change is not a synonym for the word improve. Conservatives want to improve the United States of America, and part of building on what we have involves ensuring the foundation- the Constitution, is secure. With the Supreme Court firmly in conservative hands, the foundation is now secure for the foreseeable future. The Left and their ruthless agenda will be stalled and their tactics of manipulation will have to change, hopefully improve in that area.

Barrack Obama, during his campaign for the Democratic Primary nomination in 2007 and 2008 campaigned against insurance mandates. He believed it was wrong to force people to pay money they don't have for insurance they may not want. Then, he changed his decision after the election and lied in order to push through his signature healthcare bill- Obamacare. A piece of legislation that was strongarmed and forced down the throats of the American people and has since become a modern day Intolerable Act as far as I'm concerned. I voted against him and my own party when I voted for Trump.

This ruthlessness began with Obama and has continued to this day. With the Supreme Court in conservative hands, it will have to come to an end. The Left will finally be forced to compromise, to talk to the people and work with those it shows utter disdain for instead of pass things at their expense. Free speech, freedom of expression and things like this website and all the stories and people on it WILL be protected in the United States. And it is thanks to Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court that makes that possible.

The side of change is the easy one. Change is inevitable; changes happen whether you want them to or not. The Left uses victimization to push their agendas, but they have the easy job. It's going with the tide. Conserving something, liberty and tradition, protecting what we have and what we have built that is good is always the hard part. Time and energy eventually erode all holdings... which is why it is so important to pass them on. And we still have trouble doing that. Being a conservative is harder because holding on to the important things, to the foundation, can make progressing harder. As they say though, there's little in life worth doing that's easy.

Ronald Reagan once said that freedom is "always one generation away from going extinct." Paraphrasing there, but that statement is true. If we don't conserve our freedom, our children won't know what they've lost until it's already gone. With Kavanaugh's confirmation, we have bought that invaluable resource that we as humans can do anything with: time. Regardless of what happens to Trump or the midterms, we have bought time now where the Constitution is safe, where the foundation of this country and our liberty is secure. With that, we can build. We're building every day and we are conservatives. So that means it's not easy, but we keep doing it.

Naw, Universal Healthare is good.

That's a cool opinion. I disagree with it, though. I prefer the current healthcare system, it's worked well for my family. But cool opinion, dude.

That's great , and I respect your opinion. I also see it as another benefit of the Universal healthcare though, people like you and me who already have the healthcare they want/need are already set, and people who aren't happy with theirs or don't have any can get some too.

That's the point though- we don't have universal healthcare, not in the USA. We have a small form of it and I'm happy with that. Other people want to expand it. I disagree with the methodology.
