    2022 recap

I’m uncertain of how to feel about this year. 2018 was the worst year of my life at the time which every following year being part of a downward spiral. And I recall 2021 being so miserable for me towards the end that I rarely left the house without a full flask on my person.

    Exploring more options

In an attempt to provide more options for my readers who wish to support me, I have I have created a Subscribestar account. I understand that some may have become more wary of platforms like Patreon in recent months, and while I would prefer being supported through Patreon since if gives me a little more control on how my payouts work, Subscribestar

    Words fail me

I got a text from my mother today shortly after my shift started. Was told my father was slipping and would not be with us much longer. This was unexpected, yet not surprising. I had received a similar message a month ago.

    Starting at the bottom

I suppose everyone reaches a point in their life where everything seems to peak before consistently and persistently trailing downward in a spiral that never ends. For me, that spiral started in mid 2018 and has never let up. And anyone who has kept up knows what the highlights of that descent has been.

Word Count Inconsistancies · 7:38pm Sep 29th, 2018

If anyone can clear this up for me, I will appreciate it.

I have found while proofreading Volume 2 that after editing the text and adding more where needed, I find that the word count is smaller than it was before by several hundred words. And it even seems to apply with chapters before I swap out the old text for the new.

For example, Words of a Lady in The Lost Element consists of 5,800 words. But when I go to edit it, the word count at the bottom of the text box detects only 5,698.

Am I the only one with this problem? And is there a way to fix this?

Since those chapters were published quite a while ago now, maybe it's possible that the way the site counts words has changed in some way in the intervening time. It wouldn't make sense from a programming standpoint after all to have it recount the words every time it's loaded; it would only need to be done just once every time you go to make an edit or when the chapter is first published.

I'd also get a second opinion on word count. Go to places like wordcounter.net or wordcounter.io and check out what it says there.

I recall something about some punctuation marks such as quotation marks behaving strangely in the word counter.
