Act I of Playing House is done! · 2:47pm Sep 12th, 2018

I just finished writing the last chapter of Playing House Act I That's the point I wanted to get to before I start posting the story. I do still need to edit it, and Pasu still hasn't finished the cover art, so it's not quite ready for posting yet. But very soon! If I had to guess a date, and going with my preferred Monday updates, it'll start being posted on September 24th. From there, I'll update it every Monday as per usual until the first act is over. While it's updating, I'll be writing Act II, so it shouldn't be nearly as long in between Acts I and II as it was between Looking Glass and Playing House.

There's another reason I wanted to make this blog post, specifically for people who only read Looking Glass. While Playing House is the sequel to LG, it's part of my larger Who We Become universe and also takes place after the story Inner Strength. You do not have to read Inner Strength to understand and enjoy Playing House, but PH references things that happened in IS. For those only interested in Sunset Shimmer, reading IS is not necessary – it's about Twilight and Fluttershy in Equestria, so the connections aren't extensive. But if you're interested in the whole story and want to know what's going on whenever Sunset interacts with Twilight through the journal and events from IS get mentioned, now's the chance to read that before PH gets posted. Note: I would not recommend reading past Inner Strength, however; Finding Home, the sequel to IS, takes place after Playing House because I fucked up when doing the timeline here.

Just for funsies, I've got a few more things to throw at y'all relating to this story. Starting with chapter three I started giving my chapters really dumb WIP names to amuse people on Discord. They seemed to like it, so I figured I'd share them with y'all too. Aside from the first two chapters, these are very much not the final chapter names for anything. Pretty obvious, but still.

And finally, I figured it would be cool to share a little excerpt with y'all. I know how much everyone loved Applejack's appearences in Looking Glass, so here's a little bit of Sunjack

It was quite possibly the most foolish thing she’d ever done. The chances of it working were beyond slim. And yet, Sunset had still done it. She had taken the chance and kissed Applejack.

And Applejack had kissed her back. Not only that, but as their lips finally parted, Applejack reached her arms around Sunset and smiled.

“I… I love you, Applejack.”

“I can’t believe it… after all this time…” Applejack’s smile grew even bigger when she noticed the way Sunset blushed in her arms.

“You were the one who was always there for me,” Sunset said. “How could I not love you?”

“I love you too. I’ve loved you for so long, I was jus’… too afraid to admit it to myself. But now that I finally have, now that I finally have you, I swear to you that I’m never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you.”
