I went to BronyCon 2019, and all I got was this hat.

Okay, you all know that’s not true. You can’t go to a MLP convention without coming away with swag. However, I did end up knitting an entire hat while I was there (and you probably saw it. I was working on it whenever I sat down).

    What? Who? Me?

I know, I know, you all haven’t heard from me in a while. Unfortunately I don’t have another story for you (yet), but I do have some news. This year at BronyCon, bookplayer, BlazzingInferno, and I will be doing a panel on writing children and families. I gotta say, I’m

    Bitter Onions

As promised, another story featuring our favorite pony—well, my favorite pony.

    Well, okay—my favorite OC.

    Okay, okay—my only OC.

Soupe à l’Oignon is featured in this story. It’s another scene from her perspective and was completely inspired by her last line in Sweet Carrots. I mean, how does she react to Pound and Pumpkin? They certainly didn’t inherit Mrs. Cake’s hair.

    Sweet Carrots, The Last Chapter

That’s it. It’s done. The last chapter has been posted. If you’ve been reading along, you should go read it now because the stuff I’m about to say is kinda, sorta spoiler-ish.

    Did you read it?

    I’ll wait.

    Good.

    Sweet Carrots, Ch. 6!

Oh, boy, here we go! Another chapter up.

Our characters were kinda, sorta in a bad spot last time. I’d apologize, but I’m just not sorry. Don’t worry, I make up for it with this one.

    Last chapter updates tomorrow!

As Promised, Another Story · 4:15pm Sep 4th, 2018

I did it. Another story for you all. I actually surprised myself by hitting my self imposed deadline. Kids being in school full time really does wonders for my writing.

So, this one’s another Cake story and I hope that’s okay. I know minor characters don’t garner as much love or interest. Nothing wrong with that. I totally get it. Most of the fan fiction I read and write centers around main characters. Main characters are great!

However, “Sweet Carrots” wouldn’t stop jumping around in my brain. It’s because I really loved the ending of “A Slice of (Cake) Life.” The Cakes just get one another, you know?. It’s cute and adorable. I then started imaging their story. How did they get together? Thus, “Sweet Carrots” was born.

It’s a story that practically bursted out of me. I wrote the first draft fiercely and quickly. Quicker than I’d ever written anything before. I usually don’t have stories spilling out of me. I sort of have to drag and coax them onto the page. I can only get so far before the need to edit gets me. I have to edit, then edit again, then edit, edit, edit, edit. Then I edit one last time to be sure. I just want to get my stories right, so I’m an obsessive editor. I almost don’t want my stories to be seen until they feel right. The only reason I finally handed this one to BlazzingInferno was because I realized I needed to stop messing around with verbiage and I needed input on the plot.

This is a story that mostly fell out of me. There were definitely last minute changes, but for the most part it’s truthful to what I originally imagined. It’s about two bakers on the cusp of falling in love.

The best part is, I got to use my culinary degree. That’s another reason this was so fun to write. I got to dust off my little-used knowledge because what’s a love story featuring two bakers if it doesn’t involve desserts?

BlazzingInferno’s advice for readers: don’t read this on an empty stomach.

The next chapter will go up on Thursday.

Enjoy!
