RE-REmake? · 11:52pm Aug 31st, 2018

So last weekend at Gamescom, Capcom stated that there would be no new enemies in REmake2, so franchise veterans won't be getting unexpected surprises from door-busting zombies and Crimson Heads.

They also said that it wasn't "laughable" to consider remaking Resident Evil again.

I'm replaying it right now, and REmake improved every single aspect of the '96 original. If they do it again, yeah, I'd play it. Personally, I would hope that perspective is either over-the-shoulder or first person. While I am a fan of the fixed camera angles, I really don't think you could make it look much better than the 2015 remastering of REmake. Besides, the infamous mansion deserves a fresh perspective.

Also, I can't think of too many games (outside of Resident Evil 1 and 2) that have been redone from the ground up.

I can't think of any that have been done twice. I'm not talking remasters, I'm talking from-the-ground-up recreations.

I would argue that after "REmake2", they should tackle 3. The popular opinion is 4 is where it shifted away from horror, and I will disagree. I'm not sure if it was the dated graphics, but I didn't find Resident Evil 3 to be all that scary (same can be said for 2 aside from a Licker jumpscare or two). All I remember from playing it on the GameCube in 2005 was Nemesis was rather frustrating, and the evade mechanic was very hard to use.

Plus, RE7 did an amazing job at making the intimate horror feel more personal in 1st person, even moreso if one had VR. Now I wonder, if and when they get around to RE3, how Nemesis will look in HD....

I tried RE7 in PSVR, and it made me sick within minutes. Meanwhile things like BeatSaber and SuperHot are freaking fucking awesome.

PC version was amazing. Scariest RE has been since REmake. I still have to go back and play the DLC (bought the deluxe version in Jan '17)

The DLCs are pretty good, IMO. But yeah, I'm excited for RE2 Remake

I'm glad proper remakes are getting popular again. I don't mean remasters, like a lot of companies do, I mean recreating a game from the ground up. Final Fantasy had some great remakes, RE did, Yakuza has gotten a couple good ones, Black Mesa, and Tomb Raider: Anniversary. We need more remakes, not remasters.

As someone that's played RE4 enough times to kill literally everything -except crows- in the game with the knife up until the first el gigante appears, I'm wondering what the knife mechanics in REmake2 are going to be like.

From what I've seen, pretty creative. You can use the knife to interrupt a zombie attack, but after that, your can't get it back until you defeat it.

Sounds like the defensive items from REmake.
