    Author update!

I'm editing stuff! But also incredibly dried out of writing power atm. I'll get going again soon, but just bear with me for a bit. I'm publishing a chapter of XCOM today, then start on the daily writing (not publishing) again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, always remember:

    Remembering Koji Wada

Like every year, I like to remember the man/legend responsible for the theme songs of one of my favorite shows of all time on the anniversary of his death.

So if you were wondering about the timing for the latest Isekai chapters? There you go.

    Welp, here's a life update

These last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster. Good things have happened, and also bad ones. No wonder I could relate to both Furina and Navia in the latest Isekai chapter. Sometimes pretending things are fine is really exhausting, even if they do get better.

Update to the Isekai coming tonight! And some additional details and change of plans.

First, to everyone waiting patiently for the next Isekai chapter, I apologize for the delay. I know there are a lot of people that want to see another visit to Hell happen soon, and it will, I promise. However, due to some circumstances, I decided for a different pair of visitors to visit the bar this week.

Monthly Update · 1:58am Aug 31st, 2018

So, tomorrow is my last day at my apartment.

Or should I say, the apartment?

I've spent the whole day today packing and vacuuming and cleaning up the place. I'm honestly exhausted. The saddest thing is, I'm not moving out because I want to... I just can't afford it. The area went a huge renovation and rent has increased a lot faster than my income. It just doesn't pan out, and staying there would just put me under fairly quick.

As to where I'll be now? Who knows. It's really up in the air and affordable housing is... well, scarce is one way of putting it. I'm obviously not cut off from means of communication, and I still have a job and a car. I'm getting help from Robcakerand and others to move my shit out and put it in storage... after that? I have no idea how long it'll take to find something, but I'll persevere.

As always, if you enjoy my stories and occasional blargs, consider throwing some change my way... it really helps!

As for the reason I tagged Ranger on the blog: I'm working on the next chapter. I'm nodding off, so if it's not out tonight, I hope you'll forgive me, dear readers.

Good night!

Oh, dear; good luck with finding a place.

Gentrification is a bitch. Rent control needs to be a thing nationwide.

I wish you luck. I’m sure you’ll find a place before too long.

Could be worse. Could be San Francisco.

As of July 2018, average rent for an apartment in San Francisco, CA is $3738

Median rent for Manhattan, KS (my closest large city) $895. We bought our *house* for $80k

A friend is going through the same problem, she lucked out and managed to get a house... only for some of her finances to fall through and put her at risk of fraud.

Stay strong and remember, couch surfing sucks but those willing to put up with it are your true friends.

Henlo! How doth one contribute to another in a more "immediate" way than waiting until the end of the next month?

Hate to say it, dude, but have you considered moving back to Mexico? Life's kind of shitty, but if you take a transfer through your company, you should be able to keep most of your current pay grade while having a much cheaper life.

God, what a kick in the ass. The trouble is, these days everything is the opposite of what it should be: Luxuries are cheap, and necessities are expensive.

Hang in there. Remember, we're all pulling for you.

The area went a huge renovation and rent has increased a lot faster than my income. It just doesn't pan out, and staying there would just put me under fairly quick.

Wage stagnation ftw. Never rising to meet the costs of arbitrary rental inflation. It needs to be illegal to raise rental costs without raising that state's minimum wage to match.

You really can't get by on just minimum wages and congress and businesses are fighting tooth and nail all the time to refuse raising the minimum wage that should have been up to 19 an hour by this day and age had they not stopped trying to keep up with inflation. Most households spend more time at work than they get to spend time with their kids. Often times one parent is forced to spend the majority of time working, if not both, only to come home exhausted and having to prep to get enough sleep to start a new work day. Hardly ever getting to spend any quality time with their kids. It's disgusting.

But yeah, life's a bitch. Living with roommates can be nightmarish especially when looking through shitlists: Craislist, Roommates.com, and others. But when you find a good reliable roommate, best of luck honestly, you'll find it most refreshing and you'll see you'll be able to afford to do more than you'd be able to alone. It gets harder the more you live with but right now I'm able to afford a lot more than past few years.

Just watch out for anyone not willing to write up any actual contractual agreements. Always get a rent receipt, paying them with money orders or checks help. If they refuse find some other place. Never give cash. Ever. Always know that they can't just up and kick you out over petty grievances if you've lived in that house for over 3 months and you've paid your dues. If you find yourself in some illegal and the person isn't legit and they're giving you a hard time there's always 311 for code enforcement. Housing court helps. Course, everything is pretty different depending what state you're in. Especially harder if you aren't a full US citizen.

Anyways, best of luck.

I know what's it's like to be homeless...

If I had a way to help, I damn well would.

Good luck with finding a new place, moving is a pain, specially in this situation.

Rent control under the natural valuation of the building removes the incentive for creating new buildings, leading to even higher purchase costs, and essentially locking neighborhoods to whoever was initially renting there. It is also a great way of ensuring that good neighborhoods will always be inhabited by the same people, which ends up driving both young people and immigrants towards ghettos and the outskirts of cities. It is just a simple and wrong solution for a very complex problem.

4928900
That’s why it has to be paired with aggressive affordable housing construction.

What city do you live in wanderer? You can be as general as you'd like.

Contributing what I can. Good luck, man.

4928903
You don't really need both, as far as I know - increased affordable development should be good, and rent control isn't really worth its problems. YIMBY!

Yikes.

I'm sadly in no position to be able to help contribute in any meaningful way, but I hope you're able to resolve your housing dilemma in a timely fashion. Best of luck, man...

Fuck Gentrification, fuck landlords, and fuck the capital that upholds them.

Hey. Send me your paypal, if you have one.

Fuck the system of money transfer that supports landlords, or fuck the Capitol that has overstretched its bounds for almost a century and will continue to do so as long as they face no punishment?

4929114
not sure if you mean Capitol as in like the political city kind, based on spelling, but the first

4928903
Really just doing that alone will fix the problem as if you have an adequate housing supply you lack the demand that sustains mass rent increases.

But yea fuck Rents as a concept.

Yikes...wishing you good luck with everything, mate.
