Hey there, quick question for you guys.
Let's hypothetically say that there'll be a hardcover of Exchange printed which'll include a good amount of interior artwork. Which scenes / events / etc from the story would you like to see illustrated? Please let me know in the comments below, and keep in mind that you don't have to choose just one!

It's been a while since I last re-read Exchange, but one scene that always sticks in my mind is relatively early on when Twilight starts raining explosive Rarities on Anon and Celestia and destroys Anon's house.
I suppose another one that would probably warrant an illustration would be when Anon and Celestia realize and confess their feelings for one another.
Honestly, it doesn't matter which scenes were illustrated. I'd throw my money at you in an instant if a hardcover was available!

I think Twilight's first 'maniacal moment' would be absolutely perfect. The section of the story early on dedicated to her meeting was always a super fun one. Or even the two of them repairing the toilet?

Well, it's been a long while since I read Exchange so I can't remember too many details off the top of my head, but just as a general recommendation, you should try and strive for one picture per a chapter and one picture each for both of the spin-off stories after the epilogue. As for what those pictures should be, ideally, they would go hand-in-hand with the chapter title, so they should be based on them.

Well, I mean there was a scene where Twilight practiced "winking."
My personal picks (in no particular order):
At the end were Tia and anon run together.
A scene from each trial would be good. The first things that popped in my mind were the floating rocks and the Changling Valley. Maybe a scene of an alter or of Celly and Anon just trying to have a moment alone. Oh! How about a split scene showing Celestia, Anon and Twi from the neck up. Anon is in the center, head turned towards Celestia sharing breath and turned away from Twilight to avoid sharing breath.

Anon and Cel riding. And definitely some airship action. Some of Twilights craziness wouldn't go amiss. I'm also a sucker for cute horses doing cute horse things, so probably some slice of life type scenes from various chapters would be good.
Sure why not I wouldn't mind hardback copy of a story I turn to when I start hating Celestia... It happens more than you would think.

Oooh.... I'd say I would appreciate the scene of Anon presenting the stone to Celestia after going through the trials. He'd be exhausted, beaten up, and his clothing would be ripped and smoldering. Or even little sketches of each trial that serves as a bit of a summary (I'm picturing in my head a wheel that's divided into as many segments as there are trials, and a little sketch of the action in each segment); this is mostly for the gag where the sexy trial Anon made himself forget could be covered in a censor as thought it were a scene from Japanese porn. But above all, I would kill to see an illustration of the scene where Celestia is muzzle-deep in a bucket of ice cream while sitting on top of a pile of treasure.
I wanna buy this fucking thing, illustrations or not.
Haven't seen them commented yet, so I'll mention the winter riding scene, inside the "snow globe," and the porch scene after the job hunt.

Funny you should mention that one, as I imagine a pic of all the characters standing around Anon holding her journal with various looks of shock / disgust / confusion would be funny! But I don't think that's the scene from that particular chapter that'll get illustrated.

It'll be available from Ministry of Image, the Russian printing outfit, for $25, but the total cost will be closer to $50 due to international shipping. Not ideal, but it is what its. No ETA yet though, a lot of work still needs to be done. I'm working on cleaning up the manuscript and obviously art takes time to get drawn too.

Not sure about the cover art yet - that's the last piece of the puzzle. Internal art will be handled by LeStrange. He drew the little cover pic for Performance Review among other things and specializes in detailed traditional pencil and ink work. It should come out great on the page.
It's been a while since I've read this.
One is the trial where they're on this rooe bridge passing by this orb of evil? The other is Twilight using that chunk of evil flying her giant round stone balloon thing? The song Uranus the Magician by Holst was running through my head at that point. I should read it again.

I don't know about you, but this one paragraph puts a scene into my mind of the Dawn Star sailing towards Latigo as the skies start to light up. Every time I try picturing what this book would look like, this is the one image that I envision would be on the cover.
Regardless of what illustrations are on and inside, I can't wait to see what the hardcover will actually look like!

I still cant get my head around that my favourite piece of fiction involves explosive Rarities raining on anon.
Any other author would have written a horrible cringe-fest. But this story is insanely good.

There will definitely be a good amount of illustrations. I've compiled all the suggestions in this thread along with a few of my own and have been working with the artist on some preliminary work and providing supplementary material to help nail down things like the design and scale of the airships, locations, clothing, etc.
I wish we could draw them all, but hopefully you guys will be happy with what's there.
An illustration where Anon and Celestia stand together, gazing upon the glory of an airshop just before Anon names it the Dawn Star. Another nice illustration would be Luna being annoyed with discord's antics while the rest of the group are enjoying themselves not too far off. I like this scene because even though Clover changed into discord and the events that followed after, he still cares for his sisters which makes it sweet and sad as Clover is still in his draconique form.
I do hope for a hard copy soon, would definetely buy it in a heart beat!
