The devil is, sadly, real · 5:29am Aug 25th, 2018

We have an enemy. His name is Satan, or the devil, and he is 100% evil. There is no good in him at all. His goal is to either turn people away from God, or, failing that, to reduce or destroy the effective witness of the believer. He hates you, and wants you to be dragged down as far as he can. He can inflict disaster upon you, ruin your relationships, tempt you into addiction and adultery, and send evil thoughts to plague and tempt your mind.

Most people don't want to hear that. Some try to block it out and say that the devil isn't real. Don't be fooled. Denying the existence of the evil one just allows him to sneak in without being detected and do more damage. He does not play fair; don't expect to be exempt from attack because of age or condition. He can tempt you into sinful pleasures, or to use godly pleasures, desires, and means for ungodly goals, or to use ungodly means to try to meet a godly goal, along with many other things. He can tempt you to commit sins that would make you into a hypocrite, a drug addict or substance abuser, or leave you lonely, without true friends or companionship.

Fortunately, the enemy himself has an Enemy, and that Enemy of the devil is our greatest Friend; Jesus Christ.

While the enemy can tempt us, inflict terrible loss upon us, and inflict all manner of evil, the fact is that he is limited. The popular conception of the battle between God and the devil is that of a titanic tug-o-war game, when nothing could be further from the truth. God, as Creator, is infinite (without beginning or end), omnipresent (everywhere), and omniscient (all-knowing). Satan is none of these things. He may have some measure of power over our lives, but that power is nothing compared with the love and power and majesty of Jesus Christ. God has the ultimate say in our lives; the enemy does not. We often don't understand why we're being tempted or suffering, or why God allows it. We may come to understand later, or perhaps not at all. But our role does not change. We are creations of God, meant to spread his Good News of salvation to all people, and to do good unto our fellow human beings. And no, I haven't been perfect there; nowhere close. :ajsleepy:

However, God can create a masterpiece out of a disaster, and as a popular Christian song goes;

"And not a tear is wasted;
In time you'll understand
I'm painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands..."

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxLoRuQiy1g, for those interested in hearing the rest of the song.)

While the enemy is real, so is God. And one day, evil will be destroyed permanently. We must continue the inner spiritual fight, and keep going, no matter what. In the end, Satan has lost.

May God go with and bless you all. Keep holding on.
