"You're not a burden, my love" Simon comforted his partner, Prince Lucian. "You're all 7,634,420,069,142,002,387,487,862,912 stars in my sky, Luce. And I love how brightly you shine"

Starbourne Characters · 11:02am Aug 24th, 2018

Here's a few basic notes about the characters from my Starbourne series.

Heroes

Simon Devlyn: The main protagonist of the series, the stories mainly focus on him. My MLP OC Sky Blue is somewhat similar to Simon in personality, though their sexual orientations are different. Sky is pansexual whereas Simon is heterosexual... possibly demi. (And he's only ever been in love once) He loves flying, like Sky, though unlike Sky he's not born with wings and uses a starship to fly instead. He later grows a pair of wings upon ascending into princehood, much like Twilight's ascent into princesshood in Magical Mystery Cure. He's the destined bearer of the Hearts of Aurora. When he acquires all six, he can unleash a Heart Beam upon his enemies to weaken their spirit and strengthen his own.

Theodore Devlyn: Simon's elder brother and first real friend, the two of them are rarely apart for long. If I had to link him to a pony OC I'd probably choose Midnight, though there are a few differences. (Like the age gap between Sky and Midnight is 6 years where as it's only 1.5 years for Simon and Theodore. Also Theodore didn't witness his parents' demise while Midnight did witness hers.) Theodore has a natural gift for diplomatic socialization, and has befriended nearly every princess in the known universe, with the few exceptions being villains or those who are incapable of understanding English or Ferian, the two languages he can speak. The one princess he has difficulty being honest with is his crush, Princess Lana. I named her after Sonic Loveboom who must have changed her username because I can't find her anywhere. Even deleted accounts can be found, so Lana must have changed her username. If you're still following me, tell me who you are, Lana... and do you like the character I named after you? (Further description ahead)

Lana Fei: The Princess of Feria, Simon and Theodore's best friend, as well as Theodore's crush. (The attraction is mutual, though both parties are unaware of this until book 3) Lana is the kind of girl who grew up around magic and spirits but finds basic science and technology fascinating. Levers, for instance. And drones, which she finds similar to fairies and dubs them a class thereof. She has found many missing links between science and magic, having lived both in Feria and on Earth at different points in her life. She understands that life is very imbalanced but always strives for balance. There cannot be order without chaos, nor chaos without order. She knows that even if one force of evil were to be defeated, a new one would arise within a few centuries at most. Nevertheless, she knows how important it is to defeat the dark lord Teneber and achieve temporary peace, so she assists the Devlyn brothers on their quest for the Aurora Hearts.

Eveline Delebleux: Simon's one and only princess, the Princess of Starlight, future queen and future mother of Princess Stella. Eveline has no desire to rule her kingdom, all she wants is to be free and travel the cosmos. She knows if Teneber reawakens then he will eliminate all freedoms except his own, enslaving the entire universe. Before she met Simon, Eveline was betrothed to Prince Lucian of Luderia. It was only thanks to Simon that she saw Lucian's true intentions, and that he was actually an agent of Teneber known as Shadestar, intent on stealing and misusing the Aurora Hearts. In a way, Simon's jealousy of Lucian had freed Eveline's heart.

Lucian Starling: The Prince of Luderia, but also Shadestar, agent of Teneber. His twin souls are constantly at war with one another, light versus darkness. Former love of Eveline, though she dumped him after realizing he was just using her to learn more about the Aurora Hearts. He has a weird fascination with sweets and baking and using puns related to sweets or baking. One of his favourite puns is "cooking up a storm" After he is freed from Teneber's control, he joins the crew in order to defeat Teneber and make him pay for using him.

Emberly Dust: Formerly an ordinary girl, she became the adoptive daughter of Teneber and his wife Demona. The two demons raised her as a demon princess, despite being of Luderian origin. Once she found out that she wasn't really Teneber's and Demona's daughter, she joined the crew to find out who her real parents were and what her real name was. (Spoiler alert: It's undecided for now... I might hold a contest to determine Emberly's real name.)

Villains

Teneber Dust: The Dark Lord himself, Teneber is the king of the shadow demons. He is known to be able to manipulate black hearts to his will. (Any Miraculers might recognize this trait in Hawk Moth) He gives his "subjects" strengths and motives, only asking that they attempt to retrieve the Aurora Hearts for him. He wishes to use the Heart Beam to annihilate his enemies, including his "treacherous" little "daughter" Emberly.

Demona Dust: The Dark Lord's equally evil (though much less dark) wife, Demona, is the queen of the flame demons. She wants to conquer the universe and enslave its entire population, just like Teneber. While her husband gathers weak-hearted people to corrupt, she weakens the hearts of strong-hearted people, making it easier for them to fall for Teneber's spell. They make an excellent duo and are a force to be reckoned with.

Shadestar: While being controlled by Teneber, Lucian takes the name Shadestar and has the power to give people nightmares. Once he was freed from Teneber's control, Lucian had to work hard to gain the crew's trust before he could join.

King Chaos: The second king of Feria from long ago, Nicholas, was corrupted after the loss of his wife, Queen Lucilia. It was under Teneber's control that Nicholas created the six Chaos Rings to combat the Hearts of Aurora.

Other Characters

Marion Roseworthy: A female playwright whose plays Theodore and Lana enjoy watching and take life lessons from. Their mutual fandom of her works is one of the things that strengthens their emotional bond. Her plays include Illusions, Burning In Darkness, and Ancient Gems Around Infinite Negative Space Time.

Celeste Montclair: Simon, Theodore, and Lana's magic teacher. A wise woman, she knows the ways magic and spirits are connected, and knows how to draw magic from an infinite source: The Dreamscape. She teaches the art of lucid dreaming as well, and how powerful it can be against Shadestar, King Chaos, Teneber, and Demona.

I notice some correlations with some of your OC's, like the Shadestar I borrowed. I also notice a striking familiarity between that of Emberly and Corrin's backstories (both born to one family, adopted by another, and both have to "choose" which side they'll ally with, their adoptive family or their birth family).

You did well making them, very well.
